About Me

.
A recent Arizona transplant, Leah Rochelle is originally a 5th generation Californian. While living in Northern California, Ms. Rochelle was a frequent performer with Capitol Opera Sacramento, appearing in such roles as Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage if Figaro and Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen. Title roles performed elsewhere include Mabel in Pirates of Penzance and Sally Bowls in Cabaret. Previous choral experience include Schola Cantorum and Sacramento State University Chorus, both under the baton of Dr. Donald Kendrick, and Nevada Union Europe Choir, which made a three week tour of Germany, Austria, and Italy. While performing in Europe, this choir placed 1st at the Austrian Spittal an der Drau International Choral Competition as well as participating in the Italian International Festival of Music Citta di Castiglione del Lago. Continuing her love of performance and education, Leah now studies voice with Claudia Kennedy and coaches with Ann Burritt Nagell, and is pursuing concurrent degrees in Music and German Civilization.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Myspace Layouts
Influences: First, last, and always, there is W.A.MOZART, after that come the rest...

The Medieval and Renaissance Age: Pallestrina and Allegri

The Age of the Baroque: Handel, Bach, Scarlatti and Purcell

The Age of Classicism: Haydn, Beethoven and Pergolesi

The Romantic Age: Rossini, Schubert, Donizetti, Bellini, Schumann, Gounod, Strauss II, Brahms, Bizet, Delibes, Mussorgsky, Faure, Puccini and Mahler

The Age of Modernism: Granados, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Villa-Lobos, Carl Orff, George Gershwin, Francis Poulenc, Aaron Copland, Joachin Rodrigo, Samuel Barber, Britten, Gian Carlo Menotti and Ricky Ian Gordon.
Sounds Like: As a classical singer, I definitely have my own voice; unfortunately, the myspace player does not give justice to the performer.
I sound most like a mix of Elly Ameling, Arleen Auger, Dawn Upshaw, Barbara Bonney and Kathleen Battle, with just a hint of Lily Pons...

Type of Label: None
