"RIP The Stays 2005-2007"

About Me

band video for "see what you've done"MyGen Profile GeneratorHi people, we are The Stays from Leeds, UK. We are all close mates, have a top laugh, and more importantly make music together. We rehearse in a small room on the edge of Leeds, trying to find atmospheric sound and trying to better ourselves week on week. Please feel free to come and see us, we appreciate any support and hopefully you will appreciate what we are about.
We love music, meeting people, free drink, banter, dirty takeaways, sky sports news, late nights, driving to grimsby, getting lost, Huddersfield town, Port Vale, Bradford City, Kashmir, lime cordial, vintage QPR shirts, lew and nadine from beaver creek, bungle's Nova, Thornhill Arms, M62, being late for soundcheck, Adey's bongos, farsley, cheap caffeine drinks, Holgate, Tarq, Sy, Zoe, Adey's housemates and the rest of the crew, fenders, chad's mum, cup o tea, lucy the dog, pravda studios, hanley, and olives.

"The first time I saw The Stays play was in Milo's about 2 weeks ago. They assured the audience at the time that it had been the worst performance they'd done (it was only their second gig) and, I'm afraid to say, the venue was absolute pap. WHY they don't use the upstairs rooms is beyond me. Anyway, I was pretty impressed (all things considered) with their set, and was looking forward to seeing them play again. I have to say, dear readers, that I love The Stays. If there was one (very) new band I would encourage you to see this year, it would be them. Think Arcade Fire mixed with a bit of Tapes 'n' Tapes with slight dash of Broken Social Scene; this is up-to-date music made by four guys with a hunger for creating seamless tunes. They have mastered the art of progression effortlessly and have the kind of vulnerability that so many modern bands fail to achieve - when you watch them, you feel that you are their most loyal fan and are consumed with a sudden urge to run to the nearest hilltop and shout about how amazing they are. The Stays encompass a raw and unadultered sound coupled with real want and need to succeed, and not for the possibility of fame but in pursuit of stunning music. Believe me, they are worth a try."

"The Stays, a four piece from Leeds with influences stretching from Interpol to Snow Patrol. The Stays are a relatively new band, which is hard to believe when you first hear them. They play with confidence and style, which is hard to come by with a lot of bands of today, and they rattled through numbers like Flow, See What You've Done and E-song - all classic tunes although though they left out crowd-pleaser Disco Disco due to the length of the song. This was a shame as, in my opinion, it's going to be a huge hit. However, this showed confidence within the band and a belief in what they do. It was hardly noticed, as the crowd wanted more at the end of the set and the seven numbers proving to be very popular. This is a band to watch in the future - if you haven't heard of them before check them out, now is your chance. The Stays gained 300 more fans tonight, including myself, and they are on one hell of a mission... "
