Dave Minda

Got the blues? Then come rock with me, baby!

About Me

Dave Minda has been a part of the Pittsburgh area music scene for over twenty years, whether in blues combos such as his "Fatback Blues Band" or "Erin Burkett and the Mean Reds," or with the high-energy rock of "The Minda Brothers Band." He's been called the area's "best kept secret." Well, the secret is out, and Dave Minda is here to stay (just, it's been said, like that sleazy uncle who won't stop grabbing your butt). But there are more secrets to be revealed, so read on, faithful friend, read on...

It was on a recent visit to a Gypsy fortune teller that Dave's life changed forever. The Gypsy, upon touching the guitar player, immediately went into a trance-like state. She revealed to him truths about himself that were, until this point, unknown to all.

It's well known by many musicians and music lovers alike that Jimi Hendrix passed from this world to the next on September 18, 1970. What was not known, however, was the transaction that he made with this very same Gypsy fortune teller not long before his untimely death. Hendrix, with the help of the fortune teller, arranged that, after his death, the various parts of his "Musical Spirit" be spread out to other souls who would later in life develop into musicians. Not quite reincarnation, but it was a way that Hendrix felt he could live on in this world.

Well, Dave found out during that visit to the fortune teller that he, born exactly nine months and one day after Jimi Hendrix died, had been entrusted with the part of Hendrix's Spirit known as his "funkitude."

Armed with this new-found knowledge, Dave Minda has vowed to continue making music and entertaining people for as long as he's able. Whether they be young or old, rich or poor, black or white, and whether in front of an intimate home-town crowd or on the international stage that most surely awaits him, Dave Minda continues to excite, energize, entertain, and, well...arouse audiences with his unique blend of rock, blues, and "funkitude."

But don't take our word for it - go and see for yourself what all the fuss is about!

Sounds Like: Badder than Shaft, Superfly, James Bond, and Kung Fu all rolled together, it's the hottest, hippest blues band you ever gonna see. Like Bo Diddley on acid. Like Elmore James meets AC/DC. Like Muddy Waters meets Wayne Newton. And, occasionally, like a fully loaded freight train flying off the rails into a twised, ugly heap. My Blog

So, what’s new with you?

Well, I guess I'm not too good at keeping a "blog" (which, I am told, is a shortened form of the words "web log" - go figure!).  I think it's been over a year since I posted my last one (which, I...
