You already know a great interest of mine... bringing attention and assets to the research of genetic disorders, but before the heartache and heartbreak of losing Felipe, I took my athleticism for granted and my interests leaned toward the outdoors... running, birding, climbing, hunting... though I must say right here that I do not use firearms and I do enjoy a good hunt that does NOT result in the loss of life of the hunted.Pitting my athletic abilities against those of a smaller animal is terribly exciting to me, and even as my own skills improve I marvel at the skills of the lithe and agile critters which evade me.
Just this weekend I met some people I have wanted to meet my entire adult life... Lauren and Matthias of central Arizona, and their two daughters whom I found to be particularily charming.Apple had told me years ago that Lauren and Matthias had brought a young Portuguese boy into their home just after I came to America, and we had looked forward to meeting him and his American family. Truth be told, I had a romantic fantasy about Felipe, even though I had never met him, given that we both were of Portuguese Podengo descent and would be meeting in this strange and distant foreign land of America.Alas, it wasn't meant to be, as he succumbed to a horrible progressive disease and passed away before we ever met. Apple and I were still eager to meet Lauren and Matthias, though, since we are interested in helping Lauren and Matthias to raise attention and gather resources toward eradicating this lysosomal storage disease which took Felipe. Though not very common, this disease process affects individuals on all continents and also other species as well
I can't say that music has ever been a large part of my life. My major cultural influence, Apple, seems to be happy without technology for the most part (with the huge exception of indoor climate control and the internet, LOL!) We spend a lot of time listening to the wild doves, sparrows, woodpeckers and cactus wrens, as well as Apple's caged birds... finches, canaries, some small parrots. I think the shafttailed finches are one of my favorites.
Paws down and without a doubt... "Zeus and Roxanne," a kids' movie about a DARLING Portuguese dog (Zeus) and a dolphin (Roxanne) who befriend each other. The movie has a romantic sub-plot for parents since the dog's goofy/attractive owner is thrown into contact with the lovely marine biologer as he tries to keep up with his wily pet. Zeus insists upon being with and attempting to protect Roxanne the dolphin from the second, EVIL marine biologist who would capture and incarcerate her if he could. Of course, the dog's man and the dolphin's woman join efforts and ~poof~ romance ensues. Not to betray my recurring preferred theme of romance... second on my list of favorite movies is the best love story of all time... "Lady and the Tramp."You win gold stars in my estimation if you see the common thread between these additional favorite movies of mine ... "Soccer Dog," "Three Wishes," "Dante's Peak," "Second Hand Lions" and "The Lake House."
In contrast to the technological preferences of Apple mentioned above, Cab likes his TV, and since he controls the remote, I have been forced to develop a taste for silly yet fun seasonal shows. "How I Met Your Mother" is one that grabs my attention occasionally, when the episode features certain family members of the main characters. Yes, I admit it, I have a sit-com crush.
Oh, Geez, sit down long enough to read? No can do. I got a ghost-writer just to type up this personality profile! LOL!!!
