"It's like a civil war of music."
New Jersey native John Stanek's pop rock background collided with Georgia born Donovan Cox's southern rock style in fall of 2005 to form an unlikely collaboration.
Oddly enough, both John and Donovan were tired of the genres they had a knack for and decided instead to create an alternative hard rock project called The Mule Thieves. While it worked as therapy for them... pushing to stretch their musical abilities in ways they could have never imagined... the music ended up being so far out there, that it was difficult for the duo to find their place in the Atlanta scene.
A year of playing shows and two full-band lineups later, Don and John decided to return to their roots and put together a cohesive body of work that focused on their strengths as songwriters and musicians. The Mule Thieves, still maintaining an edge that pushes creative boundaries, are now on the road to something special... their first self-titled LP that is scheduled for release on Winter's Creek Records at the end of 2007.
Stay tuned, brothers and sisters, the time is near!
