About Me

Destiny united Zion [Felix Ortiz] and Lennox [Gabriel Pizarro] in the small town in Carolina, Puerto Rico, by making them neighbors. As kids they connected through a common interest in Rap, Hip Hop, and Dance Hall. Their musical collaboration quickly evolved into a serious passion through working on Reggaeton together. From an early age Zion And Lennox deeply believed in the potential of young genre. Zion And Lennox embarked on their professional career through appeareances on many prestigious compilations. Their single on the Gargolas Record " Te Hago El Amor ( Making Love to You" ) was an immediate hit in Puerto Rico, as well as the Latin Market in the United States. They also had memmorable appearances on the albums of other top artists like Los Cazadores, Barrio Fino, Voltaje and Los Anormales. Three years of releasing many popular tracks culminated in the realization of their first full-length album "Motivando La Yal". This impressive production showcases Zion And Lennox's lyrical ability and musicianship. The record combines traditional Reggaeton influences with other genres like Salsa, Merengue and Rock. It includes tracks from well-known producers Mr. Goldy, Notty, Sonic, Lunytunes, Dj Blass, Bones, Dj Nelson, Mercenario, Noriega, Monserrate, Urbe and Nelly Y Eliel. Reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee, Yagga y Mackie, Angel Doze, Voltio and Tego Calderon also appear on "Motivando La Yal". Zion and Lennox released their hit album Motivando la Yal, over a year ago. Zion and Lennox represent Reggaeton on a Global level and the demand from them is overwhelming. Their first production has been received with awards including Best Rap Duo, and People's Choice Award. The duo has recently launched a Special Edition of their hit album with Sony BMG Music and White Lion. They are hyped about upcoming bi-lingual records with artitsts such as Fatman Scoop and Miri Ben-Ari. Zion And Lennox have their eyes fixed on the future and they are ready for battle. Many fans wonder how Zion and Lennox came across their names. “Well, they are names that are very different from other names in Reggaeton. We were always very big fans of English and Spanish reggae. We grew up with the dancehall reggae rhythm, old school Hip-Hop, Panamanian Spanish reggae, and I think it has to do with the Jamaican culture. It’s also a biblical name, “Zion” for the Jamaican people it has meaning. I also think it has to do with my sign, which is Leo, and with Bob Marley’s songs. I decided to get that name, simply because it went with my personality,” Zion says with another smile. Lennox adds, “I got “Lennox” from a movie, “Belly” that stars DMX and NAS, and the Lennox role was played by Louie Ranking, who is an old school reggae singer.” Each separate Reggaeton artist has a different view of Reggaeton. One of the most interesting questions to ask an artist theses day is just how they define Reggaeton. Zion states, “Reggaeton is the combination of many types of Caribbean rhythms. Rumba, Plena, Hip-Hop; it is a fusion of many rhythms that originated in Puerto Rico, and it derived from Spanish reggae. We didn’t think it was going to be like it is today, but thanks to God that all this has happened. It is a type of music mainly interpreted by the youth and originates from the streets, barrios and “caserios” (the ‘hood and projects) of Puerto Rico. This music was an option out of necessity for young people, who wanted to follow a good path in life and decided to be singers…and now it’s a genre that is succeeding throughout the world.” Lennox adds, “It is the music of the youth and the future.” Lennox says, in the past two years Reggaeton growth has greatly increased. In about 5 years, He can see a whole lot of new artist, and Zion y Lennox’s company as one of the best out there, “There will be a lot more a lot of Reggaeton.” Zion adds, “We’ll be working with the American people, selling the same quantity of CDs and making the same work, video and album quality that hip-hop artist do. I see Reggaeton in a whole different level, totally mainstream.” One of the greatest things that came about because of Reggaeton is the addition of record labels to the music industry that cater to Latinos. Many artist including Zion y Lennox feel that this is a good thing “Honestly, it is a big part of this whole movement that known as Reggaeton,” Lennox says. “The whole world has their eyes on Reggaeton, and all this American labels are signing up Reggaeton artists. I like to see this as[I see]the poker or chess games, when you see that someone signs up an artist, it is for a reason, because something bigger is coming up.” As for new projects Zion states, “We are still working with Zion y Lennox Motivando A La Yal: Special Edition. We have songs from the album in Billboards’s Top Ten, like “Doncella,” “Yo Voy,” and “Don’t Stop.” I’m really happy promoting and selling this album, and working very hard everyday in order to win the American music market. Our future projects include: Baby Records: The Album, Los Mero Meros, Zion y Lennox Forever, and soon the Motivando A La Yal Tour. There’s more information on the newly opened Baby Records webpage (www.babyrecordspr.com), where we’ll be waiting to answer our fans questions. We have sang with most artist and with the best. We have also worked with artists outside the genre, like Pitbull, Cuban Link, and now we’re going to be working with an artist from the Dipset. We are also planning to record with the Diplomats, and pretty much with anybody that wants to work with us. We are very focused on what is Zion y Lennox, making hit after hit, succeeding with our record label and to develop ourselves even more, like artist as well as producers in the future. No matter what lies ahead for us, we’ll keep working in a professional manner and with our minds set on what we do.” The last question that Nino asks the duo is, “Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?” Lennox answers with a grin, “We want to thank all those Zion y Lennox fans out there, for all the love and support that they give us. We won’t stop making good music for you and a big kiss from Zion y Lennox, “Los que motivan a la yal.” “YOU KNOW?!” says Zion with a huge smile and then Lennox ends the interview, “TOMA!” With that, Nino shakes the artists hands and thanks them for the interview, while Princesa goes straight for the jugular and steals the bear hug she has been dying from Lennox. She then turns to Zion and with a straight face asks, “Now do you need any background singers?” With four years and means in the competitive world of reggaetón, the rapero binomial Zion & Lennox set out to take the advantage in the market from the United States to put under to him the English in its songs. The dueto, that is outstanding in the sort by its clean musical style as well as by its refrescante image, promotes the first cut "Don't Stop" of the special edition of the disc "Zion & Lennox: Motivating to the yal ". In that subject the interpreters have estrofas in English Spanish and to take their message to the people who both understand one of languages."We want to demonstrate the talent with the mixture of the English and Spanish because reggaetón is growing", Zion in interview with FIRST HOUR declares. For this rapero, that is outstanding by its phrase "Zion, baby", its interest to record in English next to ñero his compa is due to its desire "to arrive at that public who does not understand what we sang" in Spanish. "and in English the public it will have an idea of which we mean", it limits Zion, of 24 years of age. Lennox - that this weekend will be next to its companion in Vieques in the event "Closing of summer" of the radial transmitter the X adds that "when understanding the songs, therefore more are enjoyed". The power to communicate in the Anglo-Saxon language causes that Zion, native of Vistamar in Carolina, feels "advantage of other raperos, because the English does not learn itself of a day for another one". While that Lennox, servant in the sector the Ceramics of Carolina, indicates with simplicity that "Zion speaks much more than I, than I am enough lentito, but I defend myself" with the English. It tells in addition that recently, in a visit to the Angels, California, it had to appear single in the program of television "L.A. Video Hits" then Zion was ill. "Zion was ill that day and I put under to him the difficult one and answered all the questions...", stresses moved the rapero of 23 years of age. They record in the difficult one next to other raperos A sample of the international approach of Zion & Lennox is the subject "Where they are mamis", in which sing next to figures of great popularity in the United States, like Pitbull, Mirie-Ben and Fat Man Scoop. "Where they are mamis" he is one of the eight new subjects including in the repertoire of the special edition of the album "Zion & Lennox: Motivating to the yal ". This disc was recorded according to the manejador of the dueto, Charly Toro, because the last edition did not count on international push. Because they are bilingual, Zion & Lennox have had the approach of great executives of the musical industry in the United States like reputation companies, like Warner Music.Zion & Lennox brings a fresh reggaeton style in which they incorporate a sweet harmony of singing mixed with rap. I highly recommend Motivando a la Yal. These guys are definitely on top of my list as one of the best reggaeton artist of our time.As if outside little, the rapero pair is in Top 40 of the musical magazine Billboard with the subjects "Doncella", "I go" and "Don't Stop". "We are with that there is to snore just a little bit. In truth, we are number one ", indicates Lennox, that Taking has stuck the phrase", takes "like part of its artistic style. Between its projects in agenda Zion & Lennox they contemplate to record next to international raperos of the stature of Fabulous, Cuban Link, Farell, Neptune, N.O.R.E., and Elephant Man. By the way, they finish recording with the popular rapero Spanish Fly the simple "Lets make to movie".This profile was edited with TheCricketSoda Myspace Editor
