About Me

I started Djing about 6 years ago on some old Gemini XL 500's (worthless!!). I currently play on Vestax PDX 2000's and a Gemini FX mixer. I'm also a beatmaker and have started producing my own tracks. I use ACID, Reason, and Pro Tools with an M-Audio interface for my Mac. Any songs you hear on here were produced by me. I enjoy taking samples from old vintage vinyl and turning those into original songs. I like working with hip-hop, reggae, DnB, dub, down tempo, and jazz. Band Members: Just me-I am Cynik! I also play in a band called Jole. We have a drummer, bassist, and guitarist/singer. I and we are out of Greenville, TX.
Influences: DJ ATrax, QBert, The Allies, Def Jux, Bob Marley, Incubus, DJ Kilmore, DJ Light One, GLUE, Aesop Rock, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Atmosphere, Madlib, MF DOOM, Brother Ali, Citizen Cope, Slug, Sage Francis, Del, Amos Lee, Miles Davis, Swollen Members, Sublime, Freestyle Fellowship, Super Furry Animals, DJ Shado, DJ Krush, and a whole page of others that I don't feel like listing.
Sounds Like: Cynik .... I do lots of sampling of old obscure records, mixed with old school, underground, and indie hip hop, reggae, dub, jazz and some rock. You will NEVER hear me playing any Yin Yang Twins or 50 cent if thats what you're wondering. Turn off the radio and MTV and search for some REAL hip hop. If you think hip hop is bling bling, ice, cars, money, and girls then you have no idea what hip hop is and you need to get some class.....start with jazz.
