About Me

I'm an Islander at heart (PEI, that is) where I grew up with the awesome personalities that sprout along with the potatoes and lobster. I also carry a soft spot for Antigonish where I was swept away by the St.FX spirit for four years... it still feels like home! I recently moved to Halifax to join what has been affectionately referred to as Survivor: Graduate School and start my education in Clinical Psychology. It's basically an intense but enjoyable program, where I've managed to learn a lot about myself & people in general. I've realized you've gotta be at least a little "crazy" and random to survive in this world, eh? Hopefully I'll be able to put these skills to good use eventually... there's a long and winding road ahead!!!

My Interests

Various sports including rugby, soccer, swimming (can't get enough of that ocean), hiking, and kayaking; music (in the general sense of the term); piano & guitar (still trying to make some progress on that second one!) to name a few. My biggest desire right now is to spread the wings a little and travel to all those wicked places on my "list". Lately, I've also had this strong urge to try jumping out of a plane, with a parachute of course (someone put that idea in my head a little while back... you know who you are) and get into loads of water sports/activities like sailing, suba diving, parasailing, etc.

Music:

My taste is pretty diverse, so I'll just name a few. Well, first off I've been listening to these Sleep to Dream characters whose music definitely help me survive grad school. There's also Hendrix, Petty, Young, Zeppelin, CCR, Beatles (and Hal Bruce), Blind Melon, Dispatch, Clapton, Who, Silverchair, Jamiroquai Rolling Stones, Oasis, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Skynyrd, Perfect Circle, Tool, Incubus, April Wine, Sarah Slean, Jack Johnson, Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones, Taj Mahal, Wintersleep, Slowcoaster, Pilate, Coldplay, City & Colour... the list goes on...

Movies:

Boondock Saints, Hotel Rwanda, Constant Gardener, Walk the Line, Ray. I watched a couple of the Monty Python movies recently and can't wait to take in more of that dry, British humor :) I was also blown away be Requiem for a Dream last summmer, yeah Annie?! Phew

Television:

Family Guy & Simpsons are always classics. The Daily Show and Colbert Report keep me in stitches. After missing out on the awesomeness of South Park for a bit, I've also jumped back in the saddle heading to that crazy cartoon town.

Books:

Do psychology textbooks count? haha. Those take up just a wee bit o' time, but I also enjoy reading psychologically-oriented books for enjoyment as well (Without Conscience is one I recommend). Lately, I've read books like Sophie's World, Nineteen Eighty-Four, A Brave New World, and am currently diving into Year Zero, which was recommended to me. I am still in the midst of reading Romeo Dallaire's Shake Hands with the Devil as well as The Blank Slate. I'm the type of person who usually has at least a couple of books going at a time :S

Heroes:

That Peanut Butter Jelly Time banana... he cracks me up. Then there's anyone with the ability to pull off the classic "Spiderman" move... anyone with that kinda aim can't be all bad :P
