About Me
I have a website at WUNDERVIEWBorn Doran McGee in San Francisco, at the dawning of the Aquarian Age. I had my first exhibition at the age of 4, in a children’s art show at the De Young Museum, in San Francisco. My early artistic inspirations came from cartoons, Walt Disney, Pop Art, and later in my teens, Graffiti, Dada, and Surrealism.My love of the arts, and the pursuit of higher education took me to Europe. Where I after a few years of traveling, began studying at the Academy of Kunst en Industry, in the Netherlands.I received my BFA in 1992 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, in Amsterdam. During my studies at the Rietveld I began experimenting with computers, creating animations on Amiga, Comador, and IBM software. Meanwhile, continuing my fine art painting, I also built set decorations in the late 80's, for the first underground warehouse parties and clubs like the, "IT", "Chemistry", and at the legendary club, "Roxy" of Amsterdam! Second to Studio 54!Working together with diverse artist in those creative environments led me to becoming one of Amsterdam’s early recognized VJ’s (video jockey). This heralded me to working through out The Netherlands, Germany, and other locations from Israel to Miami, and New York to Los Angeles. For events such as ID&T's "Heineken horizons", Holland's most prestigious "Robijn" fashion Awards, Austin Powers, “Spy Who Shagged Me†movie premier, Dutch TV appearances, in Miami at the Winter Music Conference, and
here in Hollywood with Spundae, Giant, After Hour Power, Avalon, Key Club, and the Vanguard. Plus various festivals and with international DJ's like, my all time favorite, DJ Dimitri of Amsterdam, Ferry Corsten, Mark Farina, Steve Castro, Sharam (Deep Dish), Cedric Gervais, and many, many more!!!Back in the mid 1990’s I attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco for a Masters degree in computer arts. Where I had an extensive education working with Mac, as well as Silicon Graphics computers. Specializing in animation and interactive design.During my carrier I've had diverse exhibitions with celebrated Dutch artist in Holland, France, and the US. Exhibiting my paintings, designs, and digital prints. In addition to this, I have several years of experience with broadcast design. Freelancing at diferent post production houses , creating special effects, for music video’s, TV commercials and films!My unique style and ability to manipulate and create new media forms beckons our attention and curiosity in this new millennium. I'm known as "Doran Dada", now creating short features for the burgeoning new technologies market!
