Hello

Peoples acceptance of dreadlocks vary immensely, some will think it's the coolest thing they've ever seen, and on the other hand some people won't even acknowledge your presence. Attitude you will receive, that is certain. Good or bad? Well get ready for both.

Dreadlocks make you stand out, isn't that the point? To stick out from the normal Joe? However that could be a good or bad thing depending on your life. Most likely you will find yourself getting tons of attitude from 'normal' folk. People can't understand why you'd do somethign like that to your hair, people will tell you they are dirty, that you look ridiculous, that non african with dreads is wrong.

In my experience, when I started my dreads, my best friends didn't even support me. When i first got my first dreadz, they told me I looked stupid. People can't handle change that drastic, even if they are your close buds. In time as the dreadlocks developed people began to like them more and more. However, old school dinosaur attitudes remained. Ignorant people have closed minds, and racist people are worse.

I'd consider it very difficult for a professional or working person to have dreads and get away with it. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you have real strong skin, cause you would take abuse constantly.

On the positive, open minded, intelligent people will love your dreads. With all the negative attention you get, there will be double in positive. People will wanna know all about them , and chicks dig em too ;)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone, (especially those wif dreadlocks) out there who's kind, fun, jovial, hillarious, funny, interesting n sincere enuf in bein frenz wif me......

All those dreadlockz fanatics out there.. Keep e dreads growing n glowing... Dreadlockz is not a Crime!!

People think dreads = rasta. Not necessarily the case, most people like dreads because they are a cool hairstyle, not because they follow the rastafarian lifestyle. This seems to offend some people.

So who cares right? I say go for it, what is the big deal anyway? Unfortunately racist ideas and segregation still are around in today's society. Having dreadlocks makes a bold statement about who you are, and bold statements can have bold consequences.

Normal people don't have dreadlocks, and there is a reason for that. If you are dread worthy than none of these consequeneces will really bother you in the end, but be aware that getting dreads is more than getting a new haircut or putting on a hat. There is a pre dread world and a post dread world and I believe you will see a difference of your own once you decide to take the plunge.

So go dread on, screw the ignorant, and have fun!

Lastly i wanna meet all my long lost primary, secondary n poly mates....
