New Album "Years" Out Now!
Check out this article about ATE!
Across The Elementary is a solo project by Reed Benjamin that was started in 2004 when he was a sophomore in high school. At this time there was no name for the project, and there were hardly any releases(just some songs for him and his friends to listen to). The great art of engineering and producing was soon formally introduced to Reed by former drum teacher and still good friend, Stephen Levitin(www.theapplejuicekid.com). Benjamin was fascinated by the whole process and began recording whenever he could find time between school, a job, and other bands he was in. Not long after, his first album entitled "Everything I Never Told You" was released in early June of 2005. Through the help of local record stores and his friends and family, copies spread about. With the help and push from his friends, Across The Elementary began playing shows in August of 2005 and still has a constant flow of appearances around the Chapel Hill area.
Across The Elementary's second release was a part of a much larger project, or so the idea was at first. "The Fall EP" was released in the fall of 2005, and was originally part of a series of "Seasons EPs" that would be released throughout the year. "The Fall EP" was well recieved and brought new attention to Across The Elementary, drawing new listeners to the more acoustic and intimate vibe of the new songs. Although Reed tried as much as he could, the next in the series, The Winter EP, turned out to be an aimless and uninteresting attempt at a different sound. The Winter EP was never officially released.
In the Spring Reed did not have much time to focus on a Spring EP, and was more dedicated to his more recent band, Deep Sea Diving, in which he played drums. He realized the potential of the band and was immensely intrigued by the band's direction and song writing, long story short, he knew that this was the more important project. Now Reed Benjamin has scrapped the idea of the Season EPs and has decided to not finish the series this year. Instead, Benjamin has gone back to the drawing boards to take another look at his song writing. He started writing new songs in the summer of 2006, which he will use for his second full length album. So far Reed has been taking his time to develop his songs and hopefully write the best material he can. He has also just recently joined his close friends' band AOK, replacing their former drummer. Across The Elementary can't wait to to play new unreleased songs off the upcoming album at any and all shows possible. All Booking purposes please contact: [email protected]
