About Me

I'm not here to make things better, only to observe and pass judgement.

My Interests

culinary arts; music; traveling; photography; interior design; piano; red wine; hoodie weather; cooking; cupcakes; independent films; screen printing; g-star jackets; mooks finds on ebay; replacing normal everyday words with bigger words from the thesaurus so i sound more knowledgeable; playing with my cats until they pant to catch their breath; sunday brunch; making different kinds of risotto; hating everyone who bought a "choose life" license plate; and wondering why we don't get a section where we put everything we don't like. my first one might be something like... people who draw on their eyebrows. man i hate that.

I'd like to meet:

anyone who can get me to France for culinary school... and the late Bill Hicks.

Music:

failure, pinback, beirut, aloha, ratatat, field music, chromeo, erlend oye, tapes n tapes, rob crow, the arcade fire, autolux, sufjan stevens, hot chip, spoon, air, broken social scene, systems officer, wolf parade, elliott smith, of montreal, ben folds five and then ben folds, bjork, beulah, phoenix, jon brion, radiohead, beck, apollo up!, forget cassettes, the whole fantastic world, death from above 1979, aqueduct, thunderbirds are now, architecture in helsinki, tool, old bep, the features, self, feersum ennjin, portishead, kings of convenience, coldplay, aphex twin, les savy fav, queens of the stone age, muse, refused, at the drive in, mars volta, aireline, metric, thingy, nada surf, death cab for cutie, postal service, rogue wave, jamie cullum, travis, fiona apple, the shins, quasi, modest mouse, sting (and the police), the clash, wu-tang, pharcyde, dandy warhols, flaming lips, the faint, cave in, peter gabriel, tv on the radio, beastie boys, dj shadow, menomena, pixies, belle & sebastian, interpol, secret machines, depeche mode, hayden; Comedians: Bill Hicks and David Cross

Movies:

Amelie (and every other Jean Pierre Jeunet film), kicking and screaming, delicatessen, buffalo 66, Magnolia, Welcome To the Dollhouse, Donnie Darko, Harold and Maude, Igby Goes Down, Hudsucker Proxy, The Squid and The Whale, City Of Lost Children, The Ice Storm, Rushmore, Life Aquatic, The House Of Yes, Best In Show, American Movie, Pi, Four Rooms, Waiting for Guffman, Fantastic Planet, Take the Money and Run.. too many - so basically, i like most movies put out by these guys: Wes Anderson, Coen Brothers, P.T. Anderson, David Lynch, Greg Araki, Woody Allen, Todd Solondz, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Guest, Michael Moore, Vincent Gallo, but NOTHING with John Travolta in it. Man i hate that guy.

Television:

project runway and arrested development are the only two shows i need... but i also enjoy the office, extras, real time with bill maher, family guy, six feet under, curb your enthusiasm, mr. show, twin peaks, my so-called life, and there are a few gems on pbs

Books:

chuck palahniuk, David Sedaris, American Scream - the Bill Hicks story, Prozac Nation, Michael Moore books (to an extent), Irvine Welsh, Fast Food Nation, Virgin Suicides, American Psycho; Magazines: Vice, Found, CMJ, ReadyMade, Flaunt... honestly i don't read as much as i'd like to. i never seem to find the time. I do find myself losing hours of my day looking through furniture catalogs, though. especially IKEA.
