Don't play with my style, I might sting ya!

About Me

Rokko began his musical journey 14 years ago as the lead guitarist in various high school heavy metal bands. During the mid-nineties he became increasingly influenced by the big beat scene and emerging electronic acts such as The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy and Unkle. By the late nineties he was producing his own computer based music featuring samples, guitars and vocals from childhood friend Twisted MC, as well as his own mashups and remixes. Motivated by his love of scratching, he purchased his first set of turntable shortly afterwards and was soon playing regular nights in local bars and parties. Since then he has gone on to fine tune his dj and production skills, with his feet firmly rooted in the breaks scene, although styles can range from hip hop, funk and reggae to electro and drum'n'bass - and everything inbetween. In 2002 he had 2 breaks tracks released on Edinburgh Club Cuts, a cd designed to showcase up and coming scottish artists. Over the years he has played at many venues around scotland, including support slots for DMC Champion DJ Dexter of The Avalanches fame, Utah Saints and the Scratch Perverts. As his skills developed, his sets became more complex, incorporating sampers, computers, extra dj's, extra decks, mc's, harmonic mixing - he was always wanting to take things to the next level, but had no idea that the answer to his cravings would no longer require turntables. In 2005 he discovered Ableton Live, and hasn't looked back since. His live sets now combine mixing and production with live remixing and scratching. Keep on rockin!
