Tape Tum

you will never be alone again

About Me

Tape Tum is Lieven Dousselaere on guitar, vocals and electronics, and Benjamin Dousselaere on bass, vocals and electronics. In their early teens the brothers started jamming in the attic of their parents' house, heavily influenced by artists like Lee Perry, Kurt Cobain, Captain Beefheart and Iron Maiden. Later they played together in several bands, but after a while realized they functioned quite well as a duo, and found they could use modern technology to push their musical ideas forward. Tape Tum was born. Inspired by the genius of Raymond Scott, Tape Tum started as some sort of a laboratory for experimental, organic electronics with pop-anti-pop sensibility, creating sounds for no-budget theatre, performance art and short films. However, in 2005 Kurt Overbergh, artistic director of the concert venue Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, discovered the two sound-fetishists and offered them a gig with Tortoise. That was the start of Tape Tum as a live act. At the moment they're too busy with a million side projects, but they're planning to finish some new material next year. Cheers!
