About Me

Crisco Zills has been singing since he was a small child, but actually started pursuing his musical endeavors at the age of 12 when he tried out for his middle school chorus all because he could hit the notes to the song by Whitney Houston ‘I Will Always Love You.’ It’s a sad fact, but it’s true. Once he made it into the school chorus class, he quickly progressed to honor choir due to his wide vocal range. He performed with the State Wide Honor Choir at Calhoun College in 1995. After he got into high school, his musical curiosity led him towards drums and guitar, but a career in singing was something that Crisco always knew he would fully pursue. He began playing drums at the age of 16 and progressed with that until someone put a guitar in his hands at the age of 18. He learned to play along with the radio all by ear and still loved singing along with all his favorites. To this day, he still has no clue how to read music, but he has written well over 50 songs in the past 5 years. In 2003, during one of her set-breaks, he sat in and played at one of Nashville Star Winners, Angela Hacker’s performances at Old Town Tavern in Sheffield, Alabama (known at that time as Scooter’s), which was the first time Crisco had ever played guitar and sang solo in front of a crowd. After feeling the thrill of singing solo, he found a love of karaoke and started singing at any place that had it. Over the next few years, people from all over the South began to recognize his name. Last year Crisco Zills headlined at the Sport Zone Bar and Grill in Decatur, AL, when the lights went out all over the city. The power was out for over an hour, but Crisco never stopped playing and singing to the crowd that attended. He pulled up a chair in the middle of the club and began playing classic favorites and everyone gathered around him singing along to all the songs he played. Currently, Crisco has been in the studio working on his debut album entitled ‘GO’. It will include ten original songs, including the first song he ever wrote when he was 18 years old, My Goodbye. The album will include songs from many different genres of music, because Crisco is influenced by many different genres of music and wants all of his work to reflect that. Thanks for taking the time to read this and be sure to check back for any new updates.

So lately, I’ve been ranting in my own head like some mad man and it has led me to occasionally burst out into laughter regardless as to who is around to hear it.  I’m getting sloppy ...
