About Me

After the year of professional let-down, I believe my ship is turning around. I have officially signed a contract for the 2007-08 school year. The school mentioned above begins with a Wau-and ends with a-paca. I will be the Middle School Cognitive and Behavioral Disorders teacher. I couldn't be happier, as this district entails everything that I desire in a job. A small district, filled with hope. Whoo-hoo for early contracts, as April is remarkable. Now we can go to Hawaii for Tim and Jenny's wedding and put it all on plastic!!On a far more serious note, I met David Sedaris. I've seen him three times now, and he's only gotten better. If you don't know who he is, listen to This American Life or go to your damn library, because he's worth it. We chatted about the raw-noodle straws (an important matter) that an Appleton coffee shop (that my Mom suggested to him earlier in the day) uses instead of plastic. He lives in Japan now and we are friends. Paul doesn't know this yet, but I am planning a spring trip to Tokyo. We also have adventures up our sleeve for this summer...A long time ago Paul's brother got in the lottery for another shot at rafting the Colorado River. His number came up this summer and we get to go, too! We will spend three cell phone-free weeks in the Grand Canyon hiking and rafting and baking in the sun! It's surely going to suck and if you could, I'd let you take my place. hahah!

My Interests

On a semi-serious note, here are a few of my favorite things: hot tea, sandals (flip-flops, chacos, or birks-they all make me feel happy), the way my clothes smell after being near a campfire, day dreaming, working on our house, going for walks (alone or in company, on a beach or not), great sunglasses, singing in my car with the windows down (I've stopped traffic with this one), my rubber boots (given to me by the best landlord ever), the Final Score's fish frys (props to the lemon pepper for you are heaven), working on our house, thrift shopping, garlic lovers humus from the co-op, fresh rich coffee with real creamer (none of that powder stuff), the process of checking things off a to-do list, smiling and saying "hi" to strangers, hammocks, my family, the smell of my skin after being in the sun all day, playing hand-held yahtzee in the bathroom, camping, having dirty feet (because I had to do *something* to get them dirty...usually), making home-made gifts, pizza (I've been called a pizza piglet many times over), weeding my garden, making a positive impact wearing hats, skinny dipping, heavy quilts, snow flakes, line-dryed sheets, learning new words, double-ply Carharts, anything that comes in lime-green, U-turns where illegal (so risky!), p00t.net (thanks Tom), back yard get-togethers, and pretending I'm rich in expensive stores. And most of all, my husband and our wonderfully crazy zoo.
