Hailing from the shores of Long Island, NY, madisonprep blends metal, hardcore, and pop rock together to keep themselves a step ahead of your average rock band. "they have great stage presence, an awesome live show and tons of potential," says Casey Prestwood of Hot Rod Circuit, speaking of a 2003 show at Fairfield, CT.
Having all graduated from the same High School, the group officially formed in May of 2002. The foundation for what eventually became madisonprep was started by Eric & Rob Gallion, two brothers who have been writing songs together for as long as they can remember. After adding drummer, Danny Brosnahan, to the mix the band started putting the pieces into place. They recruited Howie Guja on bass and Jay Koza on rhythm guitar, both originally from the popular Long Island hardcore band, Cope 120. The chemistry between the band fell in place and allowed for them to form the special bond that is reflective of the music they play.
This fusion of pop hooks and hardcore/metal rhythms are what madisonprep became. Their live shows will pick you up and throw you against the wall with their crunching guitars, galloping drums, melodic bass riffs and catchy vocals that can sound as sweet as honey or piercing screams that will raise the dead. Having already opened up for bands such as Hot Rod Circuit, Hey Mercedes, Plain White Ts, Counterfit, and Last Week, madisonprep have continued to create a buzz throughout their local scene.
In January of 2005, the band finished their full-length record "Flammable in 5th Gear" with renowned producer and former Diffuser front-man Tomas Costanza (Bandcamp, Last Week, SGT, All American Rejects). The year ahead will be a busy one for madisonprep. Stay tuned. This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5
