'As some of you have noticed it's been very quite from me for some time now. That's because that I've together with another old artist on Vibez Recordings formed a deep house duo making music under the name of Wipe The Needle . As this project is taking alot of my time now, my drum & bass is now put on hold.. Not saying that I'm giving it up, but I still would like to thank the big DJs, the not so big DJs and the rest of all the d&b heads out there (you all know who you are, no need to mention any names) that have been giving me support and appriciation over the years. Peace. Stay true to the vibe.'

With musical influences as diverse as his mother's early jazz records as well as his own collection of ever green hip-hop, house, techno and jungle records a musical career seemed the logical progression Mikael Nybom aka Unknown Factor.
'I went to my first warehouse acid house rave with some older friends at the age of 16 and it wasn't long before I began to recreate that kind of sound on my Amiga 500. A sound that ha me harbouring dreams of someday owning own studio and become a respected artist within the dance genre. Later trips to the legendary Metalheadz Sunday session at Blue Note and other jungle clubs in London only served to fan the flames of ambition within me.'
Despite what appeared a seamless path into music, UF admits his decision to stick with music was purely coincidental.
'People have always seen me as one with a creative soul. I was quite the painter as well as a fairly good graffiti artist, which at one point led to me believing I could pursue some sort of career in this, but soon after releasing my first 12", all that changed. I can't for the life of me remember what my first track was... but I do know it was probably a breakbeat influenced track made on my Amiga 500 back in the days. Nowadays, I predominantly churn out beats on my laptop mostly and aswell bouncing between the Unknown Factor studio in Stockholm and different studio locations in London.'
Labels clamouring for Unknown Factor's signature include Formation's City Series, New Identity, Vibez Recordings.
