Jazz first and foremost and I like it fused and a little funky, great blues when I'm in the mood, classical symphonic works (no choral) and acoustic guitar:Weather Report/Zawinul Syndicate, Charlie Hunter and Garage A Trois, Christian McBride, Kyle Eastwood, Soulive, Wes Montgomery, Coltrane-John and Ravi, Miles Davis, Mike Stern, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, EST, Fred Hersch Trio, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray, John Mayall, B.B. King, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Eric Johnson, Stanley Clarke, John Scofield, Tony Williams Lifetime, Marcus Miller, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Danilo Perez, Jamiroquai, Cold Blood, and many more but you get the idea :)
Make me laugh :) Anything funny but also well-done drama, anything that engages thought and discussion:The Big Lebowski, Austin Powers, Blazing Saddles-and any and every Mel Brooks film!, Chocolat, Amelie, Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, LA Confidential, Magnolia, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ray, Saving Private Ryan, Shawshank Redemption, Crimes and Misdemeanors, The Usual Suspects, Best in Show, This is Spinal Tap. I'll think of more later!
I don't watch much of it but when I do it's:The Sopranos, Southpark, The Family Guy, Mythbusters, Basketball!
A passion-too many to list but I am drawn towards historical fiction such as Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow, women authors such as Toni Morrison, Myla Goldberg and Barbara Kingsolver, classic literature by authors such as Faulkner, Steinbeck, Mitchell....I'm working my way through a lifetime of classics in between enjoying more modern offerings.
My Dad who was a brilliant man, gentle and kind. Mother Theresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, those who give of themselves under the most trying of circumstances...cops, fire fighters, combat troops, my high school English teacher, my sons and even my ex!
