About Me

Read this, sheep!
In the near future, I hope to find some sort of crude analog recording device and record some songs as the current incarnation of Las Cruces, with bass dubbed in. The songs you hear in the dumb little player thing above will differ drastically from the racket we make as a live band. If you like the acoustic songs above, you'd probably like my solo stuff, over at myspace.com/andrewthomasdietz .
Summer 2006 Arbitrary Tour Rundown:
Murfreesboro, TN: I lose my pick and finish a song playing my guitar with a harmonica. Some motherfucker steals the beer money. Garrett throws a snare drum and smashes Shea.
St. Louis, MO: After many free pints of Blue Moon, I vomit. Garrett is informed that he is playing the drums "too hard". I'd like to imagine that no other "folk" band has ever been told this before.
St. Charles, MO: 4th of July show brings lackluster crowd. Drunken white trash. "Missouri Nights" dissolves into a barrage of obscenities.
Lawrence, KS: After five free pitchers of PBR, we improvise the entire second half of our set, drunkenly staggering through Hank Williams songs that we don't actually know. I take off my clothes and sing the closing song acapella. Garrett storms off stage. The staff loves us and pays accordingly.
Springfield, MO: I don't remember this show.
Branson, MO: First and only sober show of the tour. Miserable and embarassing.
Eureka Springs, AR: We get paid $40 for playing "Missouri Nights" on someone's front porch. This buys BBQ and beer.
Memphis, TN: Playing to a packed house. By the end of the first song, everyone has left except for the punk rockers, who mosh during our cover of "Rocky Top". I'd like to think this is the first time "Rocky Top" has incited a mosh pit.
Atlanta, GA: I play a solo set. I also accidentally knock a monitor off of the stage and get marched outside by the scruff of my neck.
WHAT ARE THE CRITICS SAYING?

"I can't understand the words, but I sure like the music." - Gary Isaacs
"I had a dream that my sister told me you guys sucked ass." - Jessica
"Some of your lyrics are really upsetting." - My mother
"Truly, the only folkish band that I can slam dance to." - Jess
"I know you glorify white trash in your music, but meth really isn't cool." - Wade

Stan Pede - Drums, equipment, cigarettes.

Sarah Presley sometimes plays fiddle.
Garrett Lee is the Las Cruces road manager, which means he drives Andrew home after he's drank too much beer.
Ben moved to Utah.

Andrew's been listening to the Violent Femmes. Stan's been listening to Guided By Voices.
Sounds Like: Shooting empty beer cans with a twenty-two. Hillbillies scratching their head and wondering what the fuck "indie rock" is. Mudhoney crossed with Uncle Dave Macon. Punk rockers on a camping trip. AP Carter with a distortion pedal. Displacement. Juxtaposition. It's like a fun surprise grab-bag, except with the kind of surprises that make people cry and throw up.
