About Me

what would you do if i died?

iron my dark suit; why?

My Interests

Lots of things really, but especially: weightlifting and running, ♥birdwatching and feeding, gardening, wilderness hiking and backpacking, trail riding (my mountainbiking skills could use some polishing), the environment - wildlife, wild places, energy conservation (yes I drive a hybrid), amature photography, painting - rooms, not art; to be continued...

Mt Lafayette, White Mts, NH '06

my favorites - American Goldfinches

West Canada Lakes, ADK '04

immature Coopers Hawk w/ House Sparrow carnage :(

West Canada Lakes, ADK '01

Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Tuckerman's Ravine, Mt Washington, NH '00

I'd like to meet:

Let's see. As a general rule of thumb I hate people, so it typically stands to reason that I am most compatible with others who hate people. To clarify, 'people' are best defined as the general populous, out solely for their own gain and who are so self-absorbed, entitled, and uninlightened that they really think the rest of us were put on the planet as stepping stones.

Indulge me here momentarily: these are the baby factories that walk around Wegmans(insert local grocery store if you're sad enough not to have a Wegmans, and for this I am truly sorry) with their 2.5 kids misbehaving while they continue to chat about this month's Glamour on their phone; these are also the people who insist on walking down the incorrect side of the sidewalk or hallway and give you dirty looks because you don't move out of their way (I've body checked more than one SU sorority girl for doing this while I was out for a run); this is the jerk in the gym who seriously thinks that they are so special that they do in fact not only need to carry their cell phone around the gym, but also find it is prudent to answer it while remaining in their workout space; I could go on, but I'm sure I've made my point.

However, I'm open and some people are endearing enough that I genuinely enjoy their company; and, there are still others to whom I am inexplicably drawn.

One last thing, I find fakeness nauseating.

ShamelessIndulgences:

Very open to suggestions - mostly anything but country and
mainstream pop - gag.

Television:

Well, I haven't had cable in several months (good riddance, really) and I don't really go out of my way to catch much of anything because when I do I'm typically multi-tasking anyway. Also, the idiot networks keep changing what nights shows are on and totally crimp the ability to watch any one show reliably. That said, my acceptable shows list is as follows:
Law and Order; pretty much all 3
CSI: LV and Miami
Grey's Anatomy
House (*and yes, it is painful to admit I watch anything on the Fox network)
Family Guy*
Gilmore Girls (I'm serious; get off me)

It should also be noted that I detest sitcoms; perhaps I lost my sense of humor somewhere along the way. More likely - they're all just horrible. *Exceptions: Seinfeld

Books:

I read; I read a lot, and when I do it's typically for fun and if not for fun then it's assigned reading. I don't really read the so-called 'classics', I don't read anything that's meant to be purely philosophical, and I don't purposely read anything that is part of someone's book club.

I am in love with Stephen King; mostly the DT series, Bag of Bones, The Talisman, the Dark Half, and the others that are more fantasy than horror. Also, Stephen, if you're reading this: I forgive you for Cell; we all make mistakes.

The last 5 books I read:
Currently - Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: Al Franken
AND True Evil: Greg Iles
Seizure: Robin Cook
Marker: Robin Cook
Turning Angel: Greg Iles
