books, nature, current events, technology, people, politics, environment, outdoor activities eg. biking, running, skiing, rollerblading, etc. and most anything else.
Interesting people for good conversation and maybe more
rock-n-roll, blues, jazz, classical and anything short of opera and most rap/hip-hop
I like all genres, however, I am not crazy about alot of new releases becuase they typically lack a decent plot.
IMO hollywood can do alot better than remaking bewitched, charlies angels and stepford wives!
Here are some movies that I've liked:
Crash, Inconvient Truth, Cold Mountain (excellent book, too), Good Night and Good Luck, Almost Famous, Mystic River, Men in Black, Hotel Rwanda
Lousy Movies:
Independance Day & Signs, I am sure there others, but luckily, my memory fails me!
Daily Show, Arrested Development, Babylon5, Simpsons, Southpark and an occasional documentary or drama (eg. Ben Franklin, Bob Dylan)
Too many to list!
I like to read current best sellers, classics and Sci-Fi
Much rather read fiction than non fiction.
Some favorite authors:Orson Scott Card,Ursula LeGuin, Steinbeck, Sherri Tepper, Kurt Vonnegut and Michael Chrichton (except his last anti-global warming screed)
One happy compromise is historical novels, you get the history, but you also get to be entertained.
There are many people, here are two that spring to mind:
Ben Franklin w/o whom there would be no United States of America!
Thomas Edison, all who volunteer!
