Welcome to the Jeffersun MySpace Music Page! My name is Jeff "Jeffersun" Hughes and I reside in Detroit Michigan along with many other talented original artists. I am a guitarist and songwriter with my main focus on mainstream Alternative Rock. My genre of music can be described as a mix of mainstream Alternative Rock and Blues Rock with soul.
It all started in Georgia. I was a teenager on a mission to prove myself. I started seriously playing lead guitar when I was sixteen, although I had played guitar and drums previously. I knew from the time me and my buddy Walter performed "Under the Milky Way" at my high school, that I wanted to perform and worked toward that for the past fifteen years.
I have been influenced by many legendary rock greats such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Dave Navarro, Joe Satriani, and Carlos Santana. I have rocked with several local bands both original and cover over the last thirteen years. I have always been involved with other bands and projects but I always go back to my solo projects. In 1998 I entered and won first place at the 102.7 The Bear "Best Licks" contest.
I am currently working on getting in the studio soon to put together an EP for the Jeffersun project. Under my last solo project "Stepkid Hughes", I recorded a three song demo named "Too Illegit to Quit". The songs include Pee-On, Just a Kid, and The Heat.
I have recently changed my group name to the "Jeff Hughes Group". This is a collaboration between Mike Ziesse on Drums and Ron Usher on Bass. Both musicians have been actively performing for 20+ years and have classic rock influences.
