Leading Christian music out of a long period of sonic sameness is the Dustin Burke Band. Combining the best of the old and new sounds and styles, Dustin Burke and his crew are creating Christian songs that compel the listener/worshipper to want to play the songs over and over again. Inspired-sounding melodies weaving their way through swirling guitars and keys have created a sound that stand out from the other music that’s out there today and generates a quality of musical “interest†that has not been heard in music for decades. The Band has now been given notice by the Christian music industry that their progress is being monitored.
The Dustin Burke Band already has a track record of opening for some of the biggest names in Christian music including Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Building 429, Jaci Velasquez, Tait, Skillet, All Together Separate, and others.
It was during a fast-paced tour of over a dozen Midwestern states that the Band crossed paths with the former guitarist of Audio Adrenaline fame, Barry Blair, whose strong impressions of the Band’s new sound moved him to produce their first CD in Nashville.
Their Nashville project with Barry Blair caught the attention of Keith Mohr, the founder of IndieHeaven, a resource for unsigned Christian bands looking to take it to the next level. His focused support and encouragement led the Band to pursue a path that ultimately led them to receiving the coveted Momentum Award in the spring of 2006 from IndieHeaven. This award was simply Keith’s decision of the top, hardest-working, best sounding, stand-out artist on his roster among the 100’s of other band’s that were hoping to secure that award. The $20,000 grant that came with this award gave the Band the opportunity to work with award-winning producer, Jim Cooper (producer/co-writer for Building 429’s hit record, ‘Glory Defined’ )in the production chair, and famed guitarist/producer, Tony Palacios (Blindside, Sonic Flood, Tree 63), mixing their second CD entitled “Epitaph of a Holy Life†which was released in late 2006. A re-release of this project on a much larger scale is slated for 2008.
Currently the Dustin Burke Band is working on a third self-produced project entitled “Now…but Not Yetâ€. While the band has released that project for sell at live shows, they are still completing some final production and post-production before the project is officially released. Those who have heard the preliminary work on the tracks say that it represents still another quantum leap forward in the direction of creating worship songs that beg to be played over and over again. Such a musical experience is rare today, but Dustin is committed to be used of God to give the world songs that worship Him in Spirit and Truth. Known for constantly writing new material, since the release of “Epitaph of a Holy Lifeâ€, Dustin has written enough anthems for the church that he could fill up several records. However, Late 2008 is the target date for the release and promotion of their newest record which will be a live album filled with the passion and charisma that sets Dustin Burke Band apart. Yet another new studio EP release will follow. Additionally, despite their disciplined work in the studio, aggressive writing, and consistent practices honing their craft, the Band has a demanding touring schedule that takes them to cities in the Midwest and Eastern United States. “I totally hope our music, professionalism, and musicianship speaks for itself – I’m proud of those things; but honestly I think it’s who we are…the joy we live life with…the hope we have…and the confidence in our callings that draws people to want to know more about what God is doing in our ministryâ€, Dustin says. “We love God and pour ourselves out for Him…but we love people…and we pour ourselves out for them as well. I think bands forget that part. We’re there to serve and not just be servedâ€.
