About Me

First of all, I would like to say that...Rastafari is the Almighty....no if nor maybe. Glory and Power to His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia. My purpose is to fulfill Jah prophesy...to fight wickedness in it's high and low places...my name is Nyah Binghi.A unlimited mind takes me to many different places, and allows me to do many different things; one of which is playing music (DJing...selecting whateva u want to call it). I became interested in this form of musical expression at an early age...about six or seven years young. I use to hide and play my my fathers old record collection at every chance I got. In fact, most of my knowledge about Ska, Reggae, R&B, Souls, and Disco came from listening to, and reading the contents on those old albums. I migrated to NYC in the late 80's, when I was about eleven years young; by then my love for music had reached higher levels. I started experimenting with the keyboard and drum set that my step-brother had out grown... I also experimented with chanting lyrics and writing songs. My exposure to dancehall also came about during this era. I was introduced to DJ Gringo, of(sirius satalite radio)...when he was the top selector for a sound called "StateSide Revolution". I learned how to mix and blend songs using LPs, and 45's in his basement back in the early 90's. In 1994-95 A couple of my brederins and I established On Cue Productions, which was basically a group of DJs for hire. I handled most of the MCing duties mainly because I was the only true Yardie (Jamaican) in the crew. Dancehall music was quickly becoming more popupar and most promoters would request a reggae DJ or MC when booking talent for their events. To get an edge over the competition, we decided that our sound should have a name. I don't quite remember how we came up with the name but, the first official sound that Nyah ever played, was a little sound called Vibrations Int'l.The rest is history...please view www.firecamp.org/profiles to see Nyah's unofficial Bio.
