About Me
Player Watch:Bahamian born beauty Sacha Kemp came to the U.S. at age 9. She later attended Atlanta's Performing Arts High School, where she continued studies in dance. By her junior year of high school Sacha discovered acting and began taking classes, but when she completed high school she tried to be practical."I went to Emory University - I didn't do the acting stuff because I had really good grades and you know how most parents are, they don't want you to pursue acting because there's no foundation. I went to school pre-med and after a year or two I couldn't really afford it. My mom still wanted me to get something to fall back on, so I went to cosmetology school and got my license because I could always do hair," Sacha explained to SOHH.Meanwhile, Sacha continued attending acting classes at Atlanta's prestigious Alliance Theater, where classmates encouraged her to follow her dreams and move to Hollywood."At times I used to wish I was more endowed. But you couldn’t branch out cuz that’s all they’d see. Even action movies, which I wanna do, how imma be kicking somebody’s ass and got big titties?â€"Everyone was saying 'you should really go' so I went out to visit a friend and I loved it. The first day I was there I saw Will Smith and Jada Pinkett at the sushi restaurant where I was having dinner," Kemp remembers. After relocating Sacha landed a role as an extra in the Sci-Fi Film Starship Troopers and within a year she picked up a Wrigley gum commercial and a part in the movie I Got The Hook Up."It's funny, they dubbed over my voice because I didn't sound ghetto enough. That was interesting," she laughs.Since then Sacha has appeared on "The Jamie Foxx Show" and in films Trippin', 3 Strikes, How High, For da Love of Money and Torque. Her work onscreen has also made her a favorite for music videos. She most recently appeared in Nelly's "Errytime," Ginuwine's "Hell Yeah" and the Erick Sermon, Keith Murray and Redman collaboration "Yeah, Yeah, You Know it". She's also graced the pages of Black Men's Magazine, King Magazine and the cover of SSX Swimsuit Issue. Despite her modeling success, Sacha is clear that her main focus is acting."I won't stop doing any of the other stuff. I realize that if people don't see you, they'll feel like you aren't doing stuff. I don't do everything but I do some of the magazine stuff, because it's promotional. If you don't do a movie for awhile - folks are like 'well she was in King magazine'," Sacha told SOHH.With her bubbly personality and flair for accents (Jamaican, Southern and imitate Rosie Perez!) Kemp is quite the ham. She names Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence as two actors that have inspired her to pursue a career in comedy."I just did a movie called Show Stoppers; I got to play a stuck up prissy girl in a step show against a more ghetto school. I like the character roles where you can just get into it and act a fool. I'm about to start doing stand up. I love comedy and making people laugh. People when they see me, they don't see that (the funny side); they want to cast me as a hoe or the girl that gets cheated on - I wanna do things like Queen Latifah where the movie is comedy and I'm the main person so people will see me a little differently," Sacha describes.Sacha maintains her bombshell figure by working out on a regular basis and kickboxing (she has a yellow belt in Martial Arts) but admits she's entertained thoughts of following the Hollywood plastic surgery craze."Sometimes I feel pressure to get it but the REAL actresses don't have fake boobs. And that's what I want to do. Like Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, the roles I want to play, they don't have big bazookas. At times I used to wish I was more endowed. But you couldn't branch out cuz that's all they'd see. Even action movies, which I wanna do, how imma be kicking somebody's ass and got big titties?" Sacha jokes.Breast implants aside, maintaining one's own point of view while living in Hollywood is a major struggle for any actress."It's easy in this business to get caught up. Some people think hanging around certain kinds of people, drinking and do drugs with these people they'll get in. Not giving in to these pressures has been one of my biggest challenges. My father was a minister. I was one of those too-much-church-people, but I think just coming up and getting a lot of love from my father and mother has helped me a lot here."While Sacha continues working to push her career to the next level, she admits she's pretty content with her life."L.A. is like a box of chocolates, one day you're sitting on your butt broke and the next day you book a movie and you're getting $2,500 a day. Whether it happens or not, I can say I left the earth pursuing what I wanted. I love it out here and I love what I'm doing."Sasha Kemp's Play-o-graphyProjects* Show Stoppers - Film slated for release Summer 2006
