About Me

MyGen Profile Generator Origin is what happens when you musically fuse Mr. Scientist (AKA Calum Lacey) and NJ Schoolcraft (AKA Nat Schoolcraft). You better get your ears ready for an electro EBM Ambient Explosion!
Stepbrothers Nathaniel James Schoolcraft and Calum Michael Lacey have both been making music since before thier teens- after a chance meeting saw Nat introduce Calum to the sample craze of eJay. As years went by, both grew to the point at which eJay could no longer satisfy the creative needs of both users. Cubase was introduced, and a radical switch from sampling to writing was made.
As Nat and Calum branched off as NJ Schoolcraft and Mr. Scientist, the full power of thier creativity was first displayed. Nat found himself travelling into the creative and wonderful world of ambient, while Calum favoured big beats, dance and power riffs.
After working next to each other for so long, they decided it was time to finally do thier thing and work together. The first collaborational peice, 'A New Day' shows both the ambient soundscapes that Nat came to love, and the feirce drumbreaks empowered by Calum. Now with the new addition of Nat's long-term ladyfriend Zoe, a singer has been added and songs will be written with lyrics for the first time... the best is always yet to come.
For the full version of A New Day, ask Calum or Nat for the download! You can do that by sending us a message, and whoever picks it up shall give it to you.
Oh yeah, everybody say hello to (and feed) Origin!

Influences: Calum

As I grew into music in younger life, I was caught up by the nu-metal movements of acts such as Limp Bizkit and such, which I'm now ashamed of... that evolved into a general liking of rock music, until I grew into my later teens and realized that the best talent is stuff that people don't talk about much. I slowly evolved my taste into electronica- my favourite band of all time is Depeche Mode, but I am influenced by anything from the flamboyant sounds of the Pet Shop Boys, through nu-jazz such as Mocean Worker, to the heavier industrial/EBM culture spreading around Europe- I'd have to say EBM is my all time favourite music genre.

Nat

i grew up in a house full of jean michelle jarre, bryan eno, moby and the talking heads, which was all washed down with a healthy portion of eastern classic composers, so some of my influence is from there. the rest is from the world around me- the birds and the trees the people in the street and how i feel when im sat at my computer.

Zoe

I am the last piece to the 'Origin' puzzle. I listen to a huge range of music ranging from 'Joe Satriani' to 'The Postal Service'. One of which happen to be my biggest musical influence. Music is an artform and we are proud to have that little extra talent that some people dream for.
