Lost in my own little World

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorWell, I'm Luke, 31 years old and living in London. I've probably got quite a bit to say about myself but not that much I can think of writing about. I live a bit of a strange life that is split between music and business and a little bit of the two together. So firstly the the music bit. Music is the love in my life, the thing I am passionate about and through which I have met most my friends. I have been DJing for over 11 years since I moved to London. What was supposed to be a bedroom hobby has turned out to be a little more than that and a lot of fun.Currently I am resident at Ministry of Sound with my DJ partner Tim Red for the extravagant 'Nude' nights run by Smokin Jo and Terry Hart. Tim and I have also been running and DJing at our 'Blonde' nights at AKA for over 5 years which has been (and is) amazing fun for us. What else? During the summer I usually end up in Ibiza a few times either playing for Nude at Space in Ibiza or on a beach or playing for Superfreq at one of its homes. I also regularly play for Superfreq at The End (more later) and love DJing in Moscow whenever the chance comes my way.The business and music mix is, Superfreq Records which I run with my label partner Mr C. Although a couple of years old now we are still in our infancy as we only have a few releases out there (see Beatport player). The label is growing though bit by bit and we are both passionate about releasing good electronic music by cutting edge producers from around the world. 2007 is turning out to be a massive year for Superfreq records with some amazing releases and projects lined up for the label. The business bit of my life is quite a big bit, in fact it is my real job. I don't talk about it too much as most people glaze over when I start chatting about it. I studied economics and have worked for various banks since 1998. I wouldn't do it if I didnt like it and it has been an adventure in many ways. An adventure that takes me around the World on frequent travels to such places as Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and the U.S. I guess this is what I am best at and it has been my choice to have this lifestyle even though it keeps me away from friends and family too much of the time.So that's pretty much it. All the other stuff, people who know me have probably worked out. I wouldn't say I'm the best person in the World. I've done plenty of stupid things and have certainly not been good to everyone. I'm probably quite self centered and selfish but honestly try to be good. Certainly not everyone likes me but a few do, so I can't be that bad.

My Interests

My music, my work, my friends, my family, Chelsea FC, poker, trying to keep fit, doing fun sports and making sure I have plenty of adventures.

I'd like to meet:

Good people who I can share my adventures with... and someone to sometimes hold the camera for me.

Music:

Pretty much everything from blues to house to techno and a bit of rock. I probably have the most exposure and fun with electronic music but sometimes I need to indulge in something completely different. I make loads of mixes for my friends and people I meet on my travels which is sadly the music I end up listening to the most. But in my defence these mixes are my favourite tunes of the moment and each compilation is filled with my excitement, passion and love.Oh and of course all the music that comes out on Superfreq Records.Right now I am listening to: The Good The Bad and The Queen, The Raconteurs, Hot Chip, Nine Inch Nails, The Killers and the New Chemical Brothers album.

Movies:

28 Days Later, Walk the Line, Point Break, Crash, Garden State, Donnie Darko, The Good Shepherd to name but a few. I enjoy watching movies most when I am on a flight back home from somewhere far away...it's when I am at my most emotional and can get completely lost in a good story. Has anyone else noticed that they cry more easily watching movies at 35,000 ft or is it just me???

Television:

The usual...Simpsons, Scrubs, Spooks, 24, Futurama, Lost, Prison Break and Football more football and football.

Books:

The Dark Materials Trilogy, Iain Banks, Robert Morgan and other sci fi nonsense. I am not a great reader but I always happy to pick up a book if it is something that a friend recommends.

Heroes:

Around the World in 8 Days - Part 2

Actually I think it is me who is the wimp. I am completely shattered from this little adventure. I would not recommend doing 40 hours flying in a week to anyone. It really does play havoc on the human...

Around the World in 8 Days - Part 1

Phileas Fogg was a wimp! This is the pleasure of modern working which Jules Verne would probably be shocked at. My final session of international travel this year is a quick trip the wrong way aroung ...

A long winded chart

There has been so much good music about recently, I've got to post another chart, as I am feeling far too over excited. I'm off to Ibiza for our 'Nude' beach party tomorrow and I can barely stay still...
