About Me

www.michaelhanley.co.uk

Michael was brought into this world in 1982. Born in Nottingham, his interest in electronic music was inspired by the early rave scene. Michael's DJ career started back in 1999 when DJ Vimto was rocking the Palais to the sounds of Kernkraft 400's Zombie Nation and Jonah's Sssst (Listen).

A year later saw Michael spend 3 months in Ibiza. He spent his time promoting Godskitchen @ Amnesia and as a club entertainer for Judgement Sundays @ Eden. It was during this period that Michael started buying records (even though he had nothing to play them on).

After returning from Ibiza Michael met the promoters of Pilgrimage. This was a new club night held at the Edge, Nottingham. It was a successful hard house and hard trance night featuring the talents of many local DJ's.

2002 finally saw Michael purchase his turntables. Having seen countless friends and DJ's play at Pilgrimage, Michael soon picked up the skills needed to perform. 2002 also saw Michael study for and pass an NCFE in music technology. This was taken at Confetti Studios, Nottingham. During his time at Confetti he also gained two unit awards in DJ skills having been taught by the fantastic DJ Fever.

By 2003, Pilgrimage, although being a successful night, was no more. However, the spirit lived on... Many one off events were held around the city of Nottingham at various venues including Via Fossa, Sugar bar and Synergy. It was here that Michael started playing out properly.

The past 2 years have seen Michael start his own productions with several collaborations now in place. He also recently played a guest slot on the Higher State radio show @ www.pure.fm.

At present Michael is working with promoters and DJ's alike in the hope of starting a new Nottingham based club night under the Higher State name (see blogs).
