My Parents... for raising me right. =)[..my mom..]: how a woman's soul can survive the horrific deaths of her husband and three children and STILL start over in a new country with nothing in her pocket is unbelievable, but somehow you did it. though i have no idea what my half-brother & half-sisters looked like, i'm sure they were as beautiful as you are because you truly are the most beautiful woman in the world. in spite of my shortcomings as your daughter, i'm aware that i hold a special place in your heart because i'm your first surviving child. i understand that that's why you expect so much of me. thank you for being everything that you continue to be to me and for instilling compassion in me.[..my dad..]: the bond that we have as father & daughter is what a lot of girls can only wish they have. i used to think that you were cold and that you'd never understand me when you'd tell me that i should be the best at anything i do… period. when i was younger, i was irritated that even straight A's still weren't good enough because according to you, it was too easy and i wasn't being challenged. i'll never forget the day you went to my teacher and asked her to give me extra work. but now that i'm a mother, i finally understand the significant difference of a child saying, 'i can' & 'i can't' & i understand why a child needs to be challenged in all that she does. i cherish all the times we had our long talks about anything and everything. thank you for encouraging me to always say 'i can', for teaching me to always strive for more, and to never settle.
