Darkness Rites is a leading example, taking metal to new heights with their dominant and obvious death metal and hardcore influences. Darkness Rites combines bone crushing and harmonized riffs, machine gun drumming, brutal vocals and smooth bass lines to create songs that are contagious.Darkness Rites hails from a small town on the outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Originally formed in 2004, Darkness Rites have spent years playing together in numerous local bands, strengthening and tightening their live act as a group.Entering the studio with producer/engineer, Dean Hadjichristou (Addictive Sound Studios), the band recorded their first EP in February 2005 and a full length in January 2006. It didn't take long for kids, bands and promoters to take notice of Darkness Rites sound and tight live performances all over Quebec, Ontario and the East Coast.Darkness Rites was soon picked up by Montreal's own Big Metal Records. After two tours under their belts; one 10 day tour in March ‘06 with Thine Eyes Bleed, and a 26 day tour in July ’06 with Blind Witness, Darkness Rites have spread their music to central and eastern Canada, impressing the masses.Having earned a reputation as one of Ontarios most brutal and promising metal acts, Darkness Rites are set to carry their force and make 2007 their year with plans to record another full length and hit the states and west coast Canada.
