Ok, My first love is hip hop, The golden age of hip hop (87-95) is by far the most prolific in hip hop history, that’s also the years I started to get interested in the whole DJ side of things, Some of my favourite artists would have to be, Eric B & Rakim, Gang Star, Digable Planets, Diamond D, Hijack…. The list goes on.
I started Dj’ing in clubs in about 91 doing hip hop nights, I then over the years have done almost every conservable type of night you can imagine.
I held a 10 year residency in Cardiff Students Union playing Hip Hop, Dance, Drum ‘N’ Bass, Indie, Rock & 80’s music, A 5 year residency in a club called Metros playing Rock, Indie, Ska, Punk & Hardcore, (still like a bit of Tool, Kyuss or Stamping Ground). And over the last 15 years played almost every night club in Cardiff.
At the moment as far as DJ’ing is concerned I have gone back to my roots and started concentrating on playing Hip Hop and Funk, I have a massive Funk 45 collection and its growing every day, my influences on this would have to be DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist.
When not playing out I enjoy producing Mash-ups, Bootlegs, Bastard Pop (what ever you call them), I have always loved and admired the way you can take two records that have no reason being together and make them fit, I think it’s very entertaining and challenging.
So That’s Me, DJ Enzine, The Welsh mash up king and deep funk provider. Peace.
