Blending multiple genres, it is hard for one to define the sound of the band. Evendeeper was formed in late 1999 when two childhood friends Brad Hensley and Seth Robertson decided to get together(after previously playing in several situations together) and work on recording some electronic influenced music with two guitars, two drum machines, and a four track. A few months later, they enlisted the help of their friend Will "the reverend" Smith(not the fresh prince....but still fresh nonetheless) to handle the bass duties. Still without a "real" drummer, the trio practiced their songs until they finally found one, Sam "slippy" Hawkins. Also a friend from their past who they had previously been in bands with, sam brought his drumming skills and his vocal abilities to the mix. They debuted as an official band at Tennessee Tech's Earth Day Festival of 2000. As evendeeper, the band was featured on local radio shows on stations such as 102.9, 106.9, 93.7, 98.5 and TTU's 88.5. One of the highlight's of the bands' live performances came when they got to perform at 102.9's BUZZFEST 2. The band was thrilled to be able to perform alongside such diverse acts as Sevendust, Tricky, Ben Folds, Custom, Mesh, and several other up and coming bands. Several shows later, and a lineup change(Sam at this point decided to front his other band, SoulSkin)....the band enlisted the help of musical prodigy Tony Bradford. Tony brought an energetic, caterwauling style to the band's sound. After performing for a year together, Tony decided to part ways with the band in pursuit of other endeavors. Sam rejoined the band for a year. During this time the band played around middle tennessee and won the local Battle of the Bands at the Cookeville fair. To bring things up to date, after a year of playing together again, Sam once more went back to SoulSkin, and Tony came back to evendeeper. Alas, the band was ready for a new name. The new incarnation of the band debuted as Novena on Halloween of 2004 at the Obscure Cafe's grand opening. While still playing several evendeeper songs, the band has taken a bit of a stylistic departure with some of their new material. As of late spring 2007 the band and tony parted ways. Brad and Seth worked on writing new material for about a month and a half, and then finally held an audition. One audition later and a new drummer was inducted into the band. Kyle Shock is the newest member of the band and probably the nicest. There are a few more recordings to finish before the new album will be released. Regardless of the genre-jumping the band displays, there is always a cohesiveness to the overall product, and there are sure to be a few curves along the way.
