Many know the band because of the reputation of frontman VILLE TUOMI, the man with a distinctive voice unmatched and a performer with charisma unsurpassed by his peers, also known as the vocalist of the late great Kyyria and Suburban Tribe.

UNITED UNDERWORLD is definitely a band to be experienced live where their spontaneous energy comes to life. The band's line-up, style and music form a colorful but recognizable chameleon which is sometimes a mystery even to the band itself - which keeps things on the move and interesting for all. They have performed in ultraviolet body paint in black lights, taken their gear and a generator on a bus and taken their show to the people at festivals when not invited to play on the bill (see the "Road2Ruis" videoclip at www.unitedunderworld.net/videos). They have also been favorites at Sörkkarock, the annual Helsinki prison festival, where they’ve played for four years in a row. Ceilings have collapsed, shows stopped by the police. At a recent gig after a full set the band proceeded to play works in progress and turned the event into a public rehearsal/jam – until the fire alarms went off. Surprises are on the way when UU come to play, something usually happens - most importantly the transmission of an explosive vibe to the crowd, putting its hearts and bodies into motion and taking them to a special place for that hour or more. There’s tranquility amidst the chaos and mellow fellowship that transcends all barriers - universal brother- and sisterhood.
Back in 2001 the video for their self-released CD single, Into The Sun (see video on MySpace video or YouTube), got good airtime on cable and national television and received excellent reviews on a rock video show. Since then the band has done what they do best which is playing live around Finland and also Norway. Various line-up changes and ups and downs and along the way have kept the band reforming and working hard but also kept releases few and far between. However, this fall will bring the long-awaited release of official full-length debut, "UNSHACKLED" released by Dreams Untouched Music. The album consists of a dozen tracks that have stayed in their repertoire through the years. The versatile mix combines elements of rock, punk, metal and softer influences delivered with groove and emotion. It’s hard to categorize, fast and slow, a grungy, metal soundscape with rich vocal harmonies. Even called stonercore and hardcore folk by some, United Underworld are a heavier Beatles for today that wears its influences on its sleeves.
