Movies:

The last three I watched were...

VERDICT: Forget about Orson's slightly OTT Irish accent, forget about the ridiculously complicated plot, this is the sort of movie where you just have to sit back and marvel at the bravura set-pieces - the famous hall of mirrors scene is still fantastic, even after all these years. A classic; if you haven't seen it, go watch it.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

VERDICT: Pretty enjoyable. Piers Brosnan plays a detestably lecherous spy, without none of the reedeming qualities of Bond; which for the most part works quite well. Geoffrey Rush plays the tailor of the title, and has a lot of fun with it - memorably talking to the apparition of his dead uncle, played by Harold Pinter. I'm told that it follows the book pretty closely - (it certainly has all the requisite Le Carre themes, espionage, bluff and counter bluff, digs at corrupt regimes and corporations, etc.) - until the end, which is a fairly predictable rounding-up of the various storylines. Not a bad way to pass a couple of hours, though.

VERDICT: As with many Almadovar films, this is madder than a box of frogs - but has some serious and poignant themes at it's core. An examination on the effect of Franco-era religious schooling and sexual abuse on the lives of two longtime friends. Gael Garcia Bernal proves once more that he's a great actor (and not just an insufferably handsome bastard!) Funny in places, but at times quite hard-hitting; it keeps you watching.

Television:

Not as much as I used to - factual stuff or quirky comedy mainly these days. Still gravitating to the box like a zombie when 'Enders comes on, though...

Books:

Currently reading...

The last two I read were...

Heroes:

Those absolute legends Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Your friend, my friend, but no friend of the llamas - Ladies and Gentlemen, the one and only Cap'n Haddock

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

One of these is a Hollywood legend... oh, you know the rest!

BOOM BOOM!

How could I forget...
