Wow, it's been a while since I updated this, but what can I say, i'm fucking lazy!
but what a great movie this was. This just solidifies David Cronenbergs status at the top of my director list; i just wish i had seen this movie sooner! This film is more or less about its author William S. Burroughs and his drug use, or how it applied to his writing career. I couldnt help but think of A Scanner Darkly, even though this film came out nearly 15 years earlier. The film follows Peter Weller, as William Lee, an exterminator, and his experimentation with the bug chemicals as a drug. From here, it does not take long for this film to spiral into an insane visual and mental trip, filled with talking bug typewriters, murder, drugs, homosexuality, and secret agent orders from the CIA. Weird and beautifully strange stuff going on in this is one. Really not for everyone, as it is kind of slow and rather developing throughout. The film would definitely fall under the arthouse category, but I was hooked right away and did not really want it to end, which thankfully, it did not really. Peter Wellers' performance was wonderfully dead pan and taken so seriously, you couldn't help but just get wrapped up into it, waiting to see what happened next! check it out, or i will fucking kill you, as ordered by my bug controlled computer!
