LATIN GRAMMYS Y MUCHO MÃS!
¡BOOM! Magazine was born in March of 1996 seeing the light of day in a sort of paper that did not have the look of a magazine, more like a Xerox copied version of a magazine. It was 24 pages bound and stapled with a color cover and the rest in black and white. The mobile was to have the magazine for a concert. The greatest Latin Rock band ever, Soda Stereo, for many of us, was coming to town on March 9. Most of us were a group of enthusiastic, non-experienced, college students working to have the first issue ready for that day.The first two issues were absurd in every way. But, thanks to its edition on line, we gained acknowledgment in other states and overseas. This brought a strong demand for the magazine. On the local side, due to our presence in South Florida's Latin Rock movement (Kike's radio show, concerts, parties, clubs, festivals, Calle Ocho, university campuses, high schools) and outside, our relations to what we call the Latin Rock Network in the US. This being in radio and TV shows, press, concert and record promoters, record labels, the cyber-world, conventions (Billboard, Midem, Radio Musica) and the whole Latin music community. Thanks to our strategic position in Miami, the capital of the Latin music industry, which is a base for 90% of the major multinational records labels and national TV and radio networks headquarters, we have first hand access to all releases of this specific genre. ¡BOOM! is the best storyteller of the day to day, month to month history of Latin music in the US.
