Michelle L. Hoppes Michelle L. (Mattes) Hoppes, 42, of Coplay, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in the St. Lukes Hospital, Allentown, after a long illness. She is the wife of Duane L. Skeeter Hoppes. The couple celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary August 28. Born in Allentown on February 20, 1965, she is the daughter of the late Frederick & Renee D. (Williams) Mattes. She was a homemaker. Michelle volunteered with the Community Commitment Inc. of the Lehigh Valley as a foster parent for many years. She loved NASCAR and was a big Jeff Gordon fan. Michelle was also a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband; sons Michael L. Best, Steven A. Best, both at home; daughters Jacelyn M. Cressman of Slatington and Laura L. wife of Thomas Woodrum of Columbus, Ohio; sisters Sharon L. wife of Richard L. Walters, Sherry K. wife of Ronald W. Kresh, Shelley A. wife of Paul Kraihanzel, Sheila R. wife of Edward Forstoffer, all of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Carl, Jordan, Amy, Ansleigh and Preston; nieces & nephewsShawn M. Sandt
Shawn M. Sandt, 22, passed away Dec. 29 at his home. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Greg Sandt of Allentown and the late Nancy (Richards) Mullen. He was a 2003 graduate of Dieruff High School. Shawn was employed by day at Subway in the airport. At night, he did janitorial work at the airport. Shawn was active in the local Democratic party and was elected Lehigh County Committeeman for his Allentown district. Survivors: Father; stepmother, Carol Dorney; brother, Christopher at home; stepbrother and stepsister, Jared and Brittany Mullen. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Weber Funeral Home, 502 Ridge Ave., Allentown. Please call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.
