Rude Rich and the High Notes is a collective that began in 1998, with the same love of and interest in the original Jamaican music style of Ska, Rock Steady and Reggae, from the years 1960 - 1975, so that when they play live or you listen to a LP/CD, they can be as authentic as possible. In the beginning of 99 the 1st Cd. " The Right Track" was released. In the mean time the band was playing some national and international gigs with the highest point, playing at Europes biggest Reggae festival Summerjam Köln(D) and the renowned Lowlands festival in Biddinghuizen (NL).
The press were writing over Rude rich & the high notes the new ska sensation and " The best in Holland for this music style" On 8th January 2000 the band stood on stage at the Noorderslag festival in Groningen (NL) and began a tour that was steadily working thought Europe. The second album " Change the Mood" came out in April 2001, where ska legend Rico Rodriguez is also found to be playing. This was the beginning of working with original artist's from Jamaica.
The following artist that that the band worked with was none other than Derrick Morgan , the King of Ska, The first show that they did with him was the Skafest in Rosslau (D) 2002 and as a result they had a live Cd on the Grover label come out, " Derrick Morgan meets the High Notes Live" . Also in the same year it was arranged for the band to work with the Rock Steady godfather from Studio One and Treasure Isle studios, Alton Ellis .In 2003 the High Notes got Rico Rodriguez over to Holland for a few shows with the theme, that classic Rootsalbum Man from Wareika. Also Derrick Morgan was invited over for a small tour in Holland, Germany and Switserland and in this period he made another album with the High Notes, with the guest musician Rico Rodriguez, Also in the beginning of that year the band opened the " High Notes Recording Studio" in Amsterdam.Again the band stood on stage that year at Summerjam in Köln (D) and in Potsdam for the Skafest with Alton Ellis and Dennis Alcapone.
In 2004 they came out with the forth album "Soul Stomp" this album was recorded in the High Notes studio and was released on there own label "Rude Rich Records" . This year also saw them playing 2 successful shows at the Lowlands festival, the Amsterdam Uitmarkt festival, and in the theme of the History of Ska, Rock Steady & Early Reggae - part 4 they played shows with the number one DJ Dennis Alcapone.
In the past seven years, they have had 4 cds ( lots of various-artist albums) and around 500+ shows on the club circuit, as well as playing some of the biggest festivals at home and on the international circuit, Rude Rich & the High Notes playing the authentic style that they do, have placed themselves on the top of Europe, knowing their place and playing constant and great music quality, from the beginning to the end, they know that they have made it, as seen by the fantastic reactions from the many fans, the press and above all, the top Jamaican artist's who have been supporting The High Notes over the years.
