About Me

Download Mixtape | Provided by DatPiff.comDownload Mixtape | Provided by DatPiff.comNigel Hartsfield was born January 16, 1984 in Philadelphia, PA to a single mother. From the moment he uttered his first words, he knew what his purpose was. From them days on, Hip-Hop pumped through his veins and rap music was just as essential as oxygen was to breathing. In his early years, he resided in West Philly and then later moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where he attended grade school. Times were hard, and his mother often worked 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet for him and his younger brother. After living on the streets, things soon got better and Niz seen that there was light at the end of the tunnel.Nicknamed the "Voice of Fayettenam City," Niz has articulated an outspoken, self-Empowered swagger that catches the attention of many. Whether proclaiming himself as "Flamethrower" or "Pyro" or screaming out his new catch phrase "Whoosh!" often followed by a malicious and gritty version of the word "Holla", Niz is predestined for stardom. Growing up, his hip-hop influences were Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac and Scarface. As the game got more diverse, he took a liking to Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, The L.O.X., Ludacris, Big Pun and Three 6 Mafia. No matter east coast, west coast or dirty south, Niz listens and likes a little bit of everything.Over the last 10 years, Niz has been on the grind jumping on any and everything that comes his way. At age 15, Niz got his first taste of exposure on Foxy 99 (in Fayetteville, NC) by recording an opening for Gilbert Baez Jr.'s radio show. After a few openings and a partnership with Baez turned sour, he soon turned to the blueprint of rap music, The Mixtape.Subsequent to beefing with other local rappers and lyrically murdering them all, Niz decided to get into songwriting. He teamed up with fellow Fayetteville artists and created Fayettenam Mixtape Vol. 1. It was a compilation consisting of artists in the Fayetteville area trying to advance in the industry. Not an album but showcase of skills rather. After dropping two successful mix tape albums, Niz began working on his first solo album, The Flamethrower LP. It took a few months to complete. When it dropped November 4th, 2003, it received a great response from the streets. Despite its quality, he was the realest nigga doing it at the time.Following that, the humble, cool and collective Niz we all knew disappeared for a while. When Niz returned, he was no longer the same. He became a monster. Lifes harsh experiences made him change for the better. All the anger turned to fire and he used it to its advantage. Niz's style became more aggressive, cockier and more witty than ever before. He exploded on the scene, with a mixtape entitled H.I.M. The initials stood for Hating Is Mandatory. On the mixtape he unleashed a verbal beating against his former acquaintances and anyone else who got in his way. He was basically fed up. The mixtape caught the awareness of many and is still in heavy rotation at this moment. In Spring 2005 Niz dropped another mixtape, Hip Hops Most Wanted. It was an instant achievement. Niz has hosted mix tapes for underground artists; Big Cas, Tod.Jae, Ground Zero and Sweepstakes of Prezidential.Niz has recently gathered a team of artists for his independent label, Flamethrower Recordz. Flamethrower Recordz Vol.1 Platinum Playboy Muzik is now available on datpiff.com, soundclick.com and at The Record Exchange in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It features Flamethrower Artists: P-Jazeey, Marc Grady Mane and BigTime. It includes the hit singles, Yes U Are A Hater, Beat Em Down, Stomp Em Out, and Dickie Suits. Niz has completed a music video entitled, Child of God directed by VIP Films. Niz alongside label mates (Marc Grady Mane and Prime-Time) recently completed a video for Yes U Are A Hater directed by Reel Big Entertainment. He is also set to record a music video for one of his new singles, this summer.Niz is still very focused and ambitious. Due to the success of his past projects, Niz returned to the lab, which he calls The Fire Department, to record his sophomore album, I'm Not A Rapper scheduled to drop Fall 2007. WATCH OUT, NIZ IS DEFINITELY THE FUTURE OF HIP-HOP!
