About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)James Leon grew up listening to Disco, Elton John, ABBA, Blondie - classic 70's music, and '80's electro/synth bands like Duran Duran, The Pet Shop Boys, A-Ha, Depeche Mode, e.tc. Originally from Wiltshire, via some time spent living by the sea on the South Coast, he moved to London in the early noughties armed with his first demo and began gigging around the clubs and venues of the capital. The electro revival was still a glint in Fischerspooner's eye at this point, and it was tough trying to get noticed in a music scence obsessed with boy bands, watered-down R 'n' B, and the dominance of the ever present indie/rock fraternity. However the tide did turn, and all the things synth-like started to see a huge renaissance. Suddenly James was finding more opportunities to perform, and people were starting to get the music and really appreciate his live act. He has even found himself in demand to play at private parties, where the response is often wildly enthusiastic and unrestrained, some of the best gigs he has played! For James, the most crucial thing is about having strong songs with hooks and melodies (though definitely not in an earnest way!) rather than merely trying to be part of a fashionable movement. At the same time, glamour and a touch of theatricality are an important part of the mix! This is combined with a powerful stage presence, impassioned delivery and a healthy dose of attitude. James has performed at a wide range of venues and events in London, including: Trash Palace, The Soho Review Bar, Tesco Disco@Hedges and Butler, 'The Glitz' at Madame Jojo's, The Mau Mau Bar, Cherryjam, The Foundry, Kabaret, The Gate, Shebu, Viva Viva, and The Millenium Club. The challenge James now faces is transcending the now over-subscribed electro bandwaggon and using his unique pop sensibility, hunger for sounding sharp and fresh, and subtle persona to become a bonafide success - watch this space!Music available from:
