We Create Music!

About Me

Add your name to the likes of Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson, Justin Timberlake, Desmond Child, Jackson Browne, Steve Miller, Marilyn Bergman, Alan Bergman in support of music creators!
ASCAP recently launched "A Bill of Rights for Songwriters and Composers," designed to remind the public, members of the music industry and U.S. legislators of the central role and rights of those who conceive and create music.
Click to view the Bill of Rights for Songwriters & Composers . See who has signed the petition, and sign it yourself to show your support! Make sure to spread the word and share this with your friends!

Here are photos of some of our ASCAP Urban writers signing the Bill of Rights.

ASCAP is its members — creative people who write the music and lyrics that enrich lives in every corner of the world. Nope, we are not a publishing company. We are a non-profit/not for profit performing rights organization. ASCAP is a membership association of over 320,000 U.S. composers, songwriters, lyricists, and music publishers of every kind of music. Through agreements with affiliated international societies, ASCAP also represents hundreds of thousands of music creators worldwide. ASCAP is the only U.S. performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership.ASCAP protects the rights of its members by licensing and distributing royalties for the non-dramatic public performances of their copyrighted works. ASCAP's licensees encompass all who want to perform copyrighted music publicly. ASCAP makes giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators and users of music. ..

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has written or produced music!! Songwriters, lyricists, music producers, and music publishers. We'll sign you up!
If you have ever written or produced music for a song, then you qualify to be a member of the country's largest Performing Rights Organization! Complete the Writer and Publisher applications, fill them BOTH out (money from performance licensing comes in equal shares as both writer and publisher of a work)!

With our new web applications, it's easier than ever to join!
