About Me

Hmmm. I am frustration incarnate. There are so many things I want to do, some many things I should do and so many things I think I will be good at but have never tried, that I don't know where to start and end up just dreaming and not doing. Its always been the same with me. I am a dreamer.
I live in Hitchin, Herts with my husband Felix and my cat, The Snooks. We live in a lovely flat that has been refered to as "the Sixties". I wouldn't go that far, but its not the best place to be if you have a migrane or a hangover.
Felix and I are vegetarian, The Snooks has a thing for frogs. Snooks is not very business minded so he won't be working with Felix and me on our latest idea - opening an eco-friendly and cruelty free salon and vintage clothing shop.
I like being pampered, inventing dishes, teasing the cat with a toy monkey, experimenting with eye make-up and growing my own vegetables. My favorite drink is sloe gin mixed with cherry lambrini and I have a badger obession.

My Interests

Writing letters of complaint, talking about writing letters of complaint, reading other people's letters of complaint. I also enjoy adding companies to my long-list of businesses I boycott for being either environmentally unaware, greedy or underhand. Morrisons - please stop shrink-wrapping single capiscums and think about stocking at least one animal friendly beauty product range! Tescos - where do I start, what a bunch of bastards! The Body Shop - sell outs! They are now owned by Loreal who is owned by Nestle, you know the baby-killers - say no more! But thanks to these scum bags I have a good idea of how not to do it when I start my own business. So yeah, cheers for that. Grr.We'll be doing lots of cycling this summer, and I hope to be doing lots of cooking, socialising and writing. I am also looking forward to being a proper bona-fida Aunty for the first time.

I'd like to meet:

People with whom I can bare my soul. I love to meet people who spark my creativity and allow me to be a bit nutty. Nuttiness should be encouraged more in my opinion. I love to meet people who can educate and inform me without making me feels like they are berating me or worse, boring the pants off me, nobody likes a know-it-all. I would like to meet my ancestors to find out which one of them is responsible for my acne and almost out-of-control bikini line.

Music:

Oh where to start? Any songs about monsters and monkeys are great. Other than that I like The Beatles, The Kinks, Sweatmaster, Los Arghhhs, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Progidy, The New Town Centres, The Presets, Screaming Cockroaches, The Righteous Ones of the Blazing Rockets, Wolf Mother, Simon and Garfunkel, Red Maxx, Wagner, Moloko, Morceeba, The Clash, The Specials, Dexie's Midnight Runners, Madness, ELO, The Otters,Joy Division, The Strokes, The White Stripes, the list is endless I could go on but I am boring myself.

Movies:

Capricorn One, The Prestige, Zathura, V for Vendetta, Withnail and I, Shawshank Redemption, Jacob's Ladder, The Rocky Horror Picture show, again, anything about Monkeys and monsters. However I have certain rules. I will not watch Vampire films if the vampires can't fly, and I will not watch Zombie films if the zombies can run. Why? Because everyone knows that vampires can fly and zombies can't run, its as simple as that. Capice?

Television:

We do not have a television but I do love a lazy night in front of the portable DVD player now and again. I love The Sopranos - me and Tony share a birthday don't you know?

Books:

The Time Traveller's Wife is the best book I have read this year. Now I've finished I am back to Harry Potter. Reading list suggestions are gratefully received.

Heroes:

Felix is my hero. He makes my world light up every single day. The Snooks - such a fluffsome little dude. Duncan - Mr. Practical, what would we do without you? My Ma and Pa - they deserve a mention, they've been brilliant to us during some dark times. Felix's bro Paul - he is a good man with a big heart. Nick, Charlotte, Sue, Will, Suzy, Katy - you have opened my eyes and brought me to a place where I am happy in myself. I love you all so much it hurts.

People of Hitchin - get recycling now!

As you know NHDC have decided to scrap the weekly refuse collection in favour of a fortnightly collection. Though this has been criticised it may just be what we need to get people serious about recyc...
