About Me

Sebu sings "Stop Staring" with his band Aviatic.
Bio
Singer/songwriter/producer Sebu has been swimming in music for as long as he can remember. Learning the piano and violin at the tender age of six, singing in choirs throughout all his years of schooling, and studying piano, voice, music business and music technology at CSUN's internationally recognized music school, Sebu built a strong musical foundation for a prolific career in songwriting and music production.
In 1996, Sebu started and fronted a band called Io, which at first dedicated most of its repertoire to obscure Pink Floyd covers, but subsequently released three groundbreaking EPs and gained a substantial Southern California following, playing sold-out shows at clubs like the Troubadour, Whisky, and now defunct Coconut Teaszer. The band's split in 2000 gave rise to several successful offshoots, including The Unknown Project, which earned a Los Angeles Music Award for Best EP of the Year in 2002.
Meanwhile, Sebu entered the underground Los Angeles dance music scene dabbling as a progressive-house DJ and naturally gravitated toward electronic production. He has produced a number of experimental trip-hop, lounge, and house tracks, and is currently working with Omar Cash on an electro-progressive release.
Of course, rock has always remained central to Sebu's music. In 2004, the lead-singer/keyboardist formed Aviatic with fellow producer/songwriter Barrett Yeretsian on drums, Ryan Welker on guitar, and Clint Feddersen on bass. The band released an award-winning full-length album, earned a spot on a Yahoo! Music top 10 chart, placed "Stroll" in a TV movie (a song Sebu wrote at the age of 17), outshined 80 bands to win at Universal CityWalk's music competition, and played packed shows at major L.A. venues (House Of Blues, Henry Fonda, Roxy, Knitting Factory).
Sebu produced and co-wrote his sister Karin Simonian's debut album 11 Degrees Of Love, which was released in May of this year. Heart-wrenching words and hauntingly beautiful melodies lace this collection of eleven songs about love, sorrow and hope.
Sebu is also collaborating with singer/songwriter Steve David in a side project called Traveling Saints. The duo's debut album The Road To Novelty, a twisting undeniably catchy alternative-pop ride, is expected to hit the shelves before the end of the year.
Sebu's home is Stereotrain, a recording studio / production house and headquarters to his label and publishing company. There he's produced, recorded and mixed a plethora of artists, including of course his own projects, plus psychedelic bluesmen The Dirty Diamond, global rock clan Visa, indie-rockers Where's Moo, metal heads Collusion, Armenian folk-pop guru Gor, hip-hop collective Nuzik Entertainment (with Capital Z, Apeh Jan, Maria and Gino Slik), and many more.
Sebu is currently laying the groundwork for his debut solo album, which will be released in the Spring of '08.
