About Me

One of Newark's own,Tammy Carr is a rising star in the entertainment field of spoken word. With a B.A. from Kean University in New Jersey, she is a speech therapist by day and a spoken word artist by night. Her career in spoken word started at a poetry venue called Vs. For Vs. in Newark NJ. She was first invited there to watch the show, then, hosted by Ras Baraka, son of the famous beatnik poet, Amiri Baraka.It turned out that the audience ended watching her that night. Since then Tammy Carr has been a driving force in the world of spoken word; speaking on the behalf of women all over the world, through live performances and her self-published book "Facing My Realities." She is adored all over for her honesty and riveting diction, as is depicted on her current DVD.her accolades are astounding. She was a performing artist in the 1999 Black Entertainment Television's Soundstage. In 2000, she began competing at the world famous Nuyorican Cafe, where she was a two time semi-finalist and won the love of poetic critics as well as a host of fans.Since then if there was a "happening spot" in the U.S., Tammy Carr was there. Along with her performances at various clubs across the country,including,The Boston Comedy where she perfromed with top comedic talents such as:Mike Epps, Kevin Hart, Tony Roberts and Talent. Other popular clubs includ:e The Improv in New York City, The Red Carpet in The Bronx, Minnesota clubs, Reno clubs, as well as Bogies, her home stage,she has also been featured at prestigious colleges and universities all over the world;this includes New York University, Marist University, University of New HamPshire, Black Hawk Tech., FIT in New YOrk,Gonzaga University,Central Michigan University, CORNELL UNIVERSITY just to name a few.Her movie debut came in 2004 when she was featured as a spotlight poet as well supporting actress with a role in the independent film "Goldigger Killer," a film which embodies some of the causes of femine rage.Tammy Carr continues to speak at various colleges, universities, clubs, high school s, and other speaking engagement all over the world!!!!found this love layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments

I love hip-hop to death real hip-hop that is...this south music is not necessarily hip-hop they kinda need thier own genre..like "south soul" some shit Laffy Taffy? Catchy but not hip-hop

I love--- Boys in the Hood, The Sixth Sense,Love Jones, Ghost, New Jack City,The Five Heartbeats, Legends of the Fall and Troy.

Television:

I know I know this is crazy but I like Survivor, Girl Friends, The Office and last but not least Flava of Love(it the most annoying but hysterically funny shows)

Books:

the Alchemist (changed my life), anything by Zane her best is After Burn, Velvet Rope and I like referring to He's Just Not that into YOU(hysterically funny)

Heroes:

My hero is my son he really taught me how to love... for real.... not for money,not for sex, not for my approval of my peers just genuine, enter another dimension...LOVE/
