I always say that I desire a slower pace in life and yet I manage to pack as much into each day as humanly possible. Part of the problem is that I want it all. I want to grow my own food, be a famous professor, spend quality time with my husband, listen to live music with awesome people, do six kinds of outdoor recreation (snowboarding, climbing, kayaking, hiking, backpacking and cross country skiing) and be in really great shape for all of it, sew my own clothes and gifts for my friends, dance to good salsa and live music every night, learn to be a kick-ass guitar player, have an amazing flower garden, be closer to my family, hang out with my amazing friends, travel locally and globally, work out three times a day, do yoga, read literature, keep up on the news, pay attention to my cat and dog, play on three soccer teams, remodel my house... OK, you get the picture and those are just the things that I want to do outside of my career. I am not sure how we balance it all in the real world but I definitely have realized in the last few years that I am an adult. I still find that realization a little shocking (so does Chase) and that I no longer have time for everything. Yet somehow I manage to fit the majority of it in most days. As for Chase - he would just be happy if I did not try to take him along for the crazy ride but since he is already committed he is definitely the best cohort I could possibly have for all these cahoots!Tomorrow... how to save the world on an average American salary (or what I want to do inside my career)!
