Wow! This is tough, there have been so many important people in my generation. First, I would liked to have met John Wayne. The man not only had an on-screen persona that I loved, he was a true patriot and hero to America in his private life. He spoke his mind, and wasn't afraid to hear the critics. Stevie Ray Vaughan is high on my list although, unfortunately, he too is dead. Such an incredible performer and one who put his entire heart and soul into every show. Jim Croce is high on the list. The man touched millions with his lyrics. I wouldn't mind picking the brain of Leonardo Da Vinci.I know, I know, these guys are all dead. I'd still like to meet them. They could reach into a place in a person that no politician or civic leader will ever find. If we are to ever know peace, we have to inspire a person's heart, not their political agendas. So what about people living today, you ask? Well let's see... How about:B.B King, Glen Frey, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, or Joe Satriani. If ya dont know these guys, then I cant explain it to ya anyway... :-)
Blues, Baby!!!!! Rockin', soulful, blues. Mix in a healthy dose of classic rock, a spoonful of country classics, and just a pinch of classical.
Casa Blanca is the greatest movie of all times! American Grafitti is in the top five, as is The Long Riders. Cool Hand Luke and John Wayne's 'Chisolm' round out the short list. Anything John Wayne did is a must see, as are MOST Clint Eastwood. I like a lot of the Stallone movies, and Steven Segal USED to make good ones. Bogie movies are kewl as are Tom Sellecks. Gimme a good western and Im happy for a couple of hours.
OK, I dont watch much regular TV. I HATE commercials. But, if I was forced to, I suppose it would be sappy sitcoms like Dharma and Greg, or Friends. Reality shows bite the big one!
Run, Baby, Run. The story of Nicky Cruz. An inspirational book that shows even the roughest stone can become a diamond. Tom Clancy is amazing. Edgar Allen Poe, R. L. Stevenson, and Louis LaMour can keep me busy for hours.
Wow, another tough one. I think one of the greatest heros in the truest sense of the word would be a former coach of mine, Charley Toogood. He wasn't timid in the way he presented his views to anyone, even in the face of adversity, and he inspired others to become leaders. He never asked for fame or glory, and never took away any credit from his players. He had been an All-American and an All-Pro, but never looked down on lesser players, nor spoke a condensending word. He was fast with a smile, and a quick draw with a handshake. He was real.
