This is my happening, and it freaks me out!

About Me

Baby Mama. Ready for some serious CHANGE.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

All things Lily. Duncan (my fur baby), Dia de los Muertos, Frida Kahlo, flea markets, farmers' markets, treehouses, vintage circus memorabilia, vintage bicycles, vintage aprons, vintage cookbooks, vintage living. Admiring our collection of vinyl. Throwing fabulous parties, picnics in secret gardens, going on road trips, traveling, writing. Animals in people clothes. Having an infinite amount of useless pop culture trivia readily available at all times. Making lists. Green livin', yoga (especially mom & baby yoga), composting, recycling. Feng shui (especially in the nursery). I heart NYC. Dipping sauces are an essential part of life.

Music:

Shake and Shimmy music. Junk Bands and Gypsy music. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Ike & Tina, Prince, Otis Redding, 60's girl groups, Django, Johnny Cash, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Cat Stevens (ok, Yusuf Islam), AM Gold hits, Loggins and Messina, Hedwig, Flaming Lips, Lou Reed, The Mother Truckers, David Bowie, Beck, Mika, Ween, Scissor Sisters, White Stripes, Jenny Lewis in her various incarnations, Harry Nilsson, that Pink song that makes me want to go to Pillow Creek, Rolling Stones, Donovan, The Carrie Nations/Kelly Affair, The Benny Hill Theme Song, the theme song to Perfect Strangers, the theme song to Family Ties, the theme song to Growing Pains, theme songs in general, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan and songs about New York.

Movies:

Grey Gardens. The Wizard of Oz. Pretty In Pink. The Jerk. Mommie Dearest. Just about anything involving Robert Altman, Wes Anderson and Charlie Kaufman. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Old movies where animals are dressed in people clothes. And of course...

Television:

All of it, in its horrendous glory. I have a particular fondness for terrible reality shows (yes, I still watch the Real World). Also currently enjoying 30 Rock, The Office (still say the original version is better), Weeds, Battle Star Gallactica, and LOST.

Books:

Faulkner. Anything southern gothic. And by southern gothic I don't mean Hot Topic fans from Georgia. I mean books about retards and people who lust after their siblings. Presently really into Murakami. Oh, and Harry Potter. Love me some HP.

My Blog

The scariest prospect yet.

Eve Ensler, the American playwright, performer, feminist and activist best known for "The Vagina Monologues", wrote the following about Sarah Palin.Drill, Drill, Drill I am having Sarah Palin nig...

For those of you who couldn't make the innaugural Mid-Century Supper Club pot luck party, here's a little taste of what you missed: (Tastes like aspic and pimento, doesn't it?) I know you'r...

SUPPORT RALPH MACCHIO! FIGHT AIDS!

So now that I have you attention - and no, The Karate Kid doesn't have AIDS (I just noticed that a certain *someone* sponsored me for the AIDS Walk, and it was "in honor of Ralph Macchio") - it's time...

AIDS WALK!

I'm walking in the AIDS Walk this year! It seems like every year I've tried to do this, and something comes up. Last year I was about a week away from giving birth. The year before that I was out of t...

Farewell to Wilhelmina

Today we put our baby Willie to sleep. Her health deteriorated rapidly over the weekend, and we knew that it was the only choice. Willie spent her final days snuggled at home. We tried to make her as...

wilhelmina

My baby kitty Wilhelmina is very sick. We found out today that her kidneys are failing. Apparently this is something that she's been afflicted with since she was just a kitten, and there's not much th...

Taylor Sue is here!!

As amazing as it is to have your own child, there’s something really great about watching your friends become parents too. Something great...and less painful. With that, I’d like...

Post Script

I just realized how similar, and how sad, my last two blogs have been. Two boring Saturday posts in a row? I'm going to need to post a Thrilling Thursday blog, or a Wacky Wednesday blog. Miraculo...

Nothing, really.

I really have nothing of any importance to say. Lily is napping, so I'm feeling frivolous with the spare time I have. I suppose I could be doing laundry, or dishes, or some such domestic activity...bu...
