I love books. I read many at a time.. parenting books, teaching books, the Bible, philosophy... I will read the back of a cereal box...
Dr. Catherine Hamlin...this australian doctor went to Africa to help women who has suffered trauma to their bodies as a result of birthing children as young as 12 and 13. Because their bodies weren't ready to have children as well as the lack of anesthesia and days of labor, these young women often lost their babies and developed a fistula in their bladder that caused them to leak waste. They were then forced out of their communities because of their smell and forced to live in solitude.. sometimes with children if they survived. This doctor moved to africa and would perform surgery and fix this fistula so they could resume living a normal life. She is my hero. All of those people that use their gift and craft to make a difference no matter how small are my heros.
