About Me

: welcome to the official Jake Paland myspace :
Biography
Guitarist / programmer / composer and producer Jake Paland was born and raised in Hannover, Germany and started playing guitar at the age of 11.
During highschool-years he played in various local bands, started gigging regularly with The Clear Rats, who also released some of their recordings on two compilations in Europe and gained first experiences in the studio scene, working as a session musician.
Becoming frustrated with the German music industry, Paland relocated to Los Angeles to study guitar at the prestigious Musician's Institute's G.I.T. department. Next to studying he also joined several L.A. based bands, started gigging the Hollywood club circuit and played at some of Hollywood's famous venues such as The Troubadour, Roxbury's and the Whiskey.
Few months after graduating from G.I.T. Jake was approached by rock act Victory, who were auditioning guitar players for their upcoming album and tour. Victory already had a long running career with nine released albums, top10 chart entries and world tours with Aerosmith and the Scorpions and to join them in the studio for pre-production and following recordings for their album release 'Voiceprint', Paland temporarily moved back to Germany.
'Voiceprint' reached top100 in Japan and top50 in several European countries. Videos were shot in Los Angeles for the two single releases 'Cyberia' and 'Deep Inside The World' of which 'Cyberia' went to number 16 on Warner Music Channel, Chicago. After an extensive European tour and remaining commitments following the release Jake left Victory and continued session work in Germany for a short period before moving to London,UK where he currently resides.
Paland has worked for and with a variety of artists and producers such as Tommy Newton, Timo Maas, Harry K. (Apollo 440), Steven Toeteberg and Jimmy Somerville to name a few. He's been sampled by sample library producers Ueberschall, has recorded gear demos for Guitarist magazine and worked worldwide as a freelance clinician for U.S. gear-modellers Line6 and digital-audio gurus RME.
His current bands include electronica act PFL (together with dub master Felix Wolter) who just released their 2nd album 'Something To Say', guitar-fuelled breakbeat project Modulation Twins and he's started work on a guitar solo album.
As diverse as the styles, artists and producers might be, the results have one thing in common: a very own distinctive style, probably best described as 'sonic-textural-electronic-guitars'. Being a self-confessed effects-junky, it is actually not unusual to see Paland surrounded by three meters of pedals, not giving a song an off-the-shelf sound but some very unique guitar treatments.
